rockbass 2009 ? (a bit long)

hey everyone, first of all nice to meet you my name is matt and im from south america :), ive been playing bass for alomost 5 years...and well....its something that id like to take to a next level in the future if possible of course...but enought chit chat for now xDD..

see guys im going on wednesday to germany (staying there one month)..and i think its the perfect chance to get myself a new bass guitar , an upgrade to my currently owned ibanez sr 305 (model 2008). warwick seemes to me like an apropriate choice based mostly on foreign opinions and personal experiences with them, especially the corvette series (just love how it looks xD). now im sure most of you will tell me that since im going to germany the best would be to go to warwicks headquarters (which are maybe on hour or 3 from where ill be staying). but i dont really feel like like investing 1000 plus euros on a german made one...so i thougt of the rockbass series as the apropriate choice, because well..they are still warwicks xDD and are usually under a grand. ive been checking all over german retailers everywhere to see if i could find any 2010 rockbass warwick....but it seems that they are sold out everywhere :s...the only ones left are the 2009 modells. my question is....are the 2009 rockbasses as good as the 2010 :/ ? i mean are they on the same league and most important should i buy one of these ? (the premium corvette from 09 ineterested me) or should i wait until they are back on stock or maybe untill the 2011 rockbasses come out ?. another option is an old german made corvette std from 09 for around 1000 euros for which my brother would be paying the hafl.....but i wouldnt rely on that much....so what do you guys recomend me ): ?
 
i have two rbs and there good but not in the same class as the german made ones.and i like the woods better on the german ones better.the rb is a good bass and feels about the same,but they don't sound the same.
 
i know that....but as i said i dont know if its possible for mw to buy a germna one ...just maybe.. :/
 
Hi Matt, my name is Nacho, I´m from Venezuela and living in Madrid.

If you get a RB I´m sure you´ll not be disappointed, great basses for the price.

On the other hand, if you spend some time looking into the used market, you may grab a used German Corvette Standard for the same money you will pay for a RockBass (500€, more or less), and that, my friend, should be the best bass you could get right now.

Hey, I'm probably one of the few (if not alone) members here who owns only a Rockbass due to economic reasons. You won't be disappointed if you like the Warwick sound. Not really as great as the real one, but nevertheless an awesome bass. If you own an Ibanez SR 305, it will surely be a great upgrade. :d

taking your advice i found a nirvana black german made corvette std and another premium rockbass (this time its a 2010 yes :D!!)
bith for around 500 euros, thing is they are in the us so they would need to be shipped to munich, germany :/ how long could that take ? ist it a good idea to buy and instruemnt over seas ? (shipping cost for one of them is 100$ the other one is not shown )
 
I shipped my Schecter from Iraq to America without any issues, it took about a month to make the trip. The case was a little banged up, but the bass itself arrived just fine. If I may highly recommend the Germany made Corvette Std, I truly couldn't be happier with mine!
 
A couple things come to my mind ...

First, Hello and welcome to the forum.

Rockbass... Yea, you will be very happy with a Rockbass. As far as an 09 vs a 2010, most definemately go with the 2010. There were several improvemnets made, the biggest being the 2 piece bridge like their german counterparts. So for me, a 2010 is a no brainer.

Buying Used. Since you mentioned corvettes, you can find them all the time for under $1000. From what Ive seen on Ebay (US) you can generally pickup a nice german made vette for about $650 and considering that to the price of a new rockbass, I would go with the used real wick anyday.

As to shipping overseas, yea, that can get a little more expensive plus the wait. So I would suggest you avoid it if possible, but if not, its still a good alternative. Just make sure your buying from a reputable seller. But what I would suggest, if your going to Germany, wait til you get there and buy a used bass off the eupoean Ebay or whatever such sites they have. You can start researching it now and get a good idea of pricing so when you get there, you will be ready. One last thought on buying from a europran based seller, perhaps you can make friends with one of or european members, (there are a lot of good people here from europe that Im sure would help) anyway, buy the bass and have it shipped to them, then when you get to Germany, you can have it shipped to you, which I think would be alot cheaper in the long run.

Anyway .. hope this helps, and good luck getting a great bass. Real or Rockbass, I'm sure you'll be happy

I agree with Randy, buy your wick in germany, ebay.de has warwicks all the time and there are many more auction sites in germany or the neigbouring countries like the Netherlands (in which i happen to live) therre is a fantastic site (Marktplaats - De plek om Nieuwe en Tweedehands spullen te kopen en verkopen) on which you can find warwicks all the time for good money.

i did a search on ebay.de i found 108 basses and on marktplaats.nl alone i found 17 basses including a Warwick Corvette Proline Bas asking price 475 euros so i guess with a bit of further looking you can get a great bargain in germany when you are there.

Great! Another Venezuelan aboard!! Arrechisimo!!!! :)

Be sure to take Randy´s and Negyuh´s advices, and look into german (or netherlands) ebay for a great used german Corvette. Hope you find what you are looking for.

And, talking about RockBasses, if I where you I would look for a 2010 RB, they are way better than previous versions and more "German-Warwick" alike, but as far as I now, they aren´t hit stores yet.

it has a pretty good finish i think plus i saw a video from the retailer testing its 4 string countrpart, and well it did sound good i think ? sorry if my questioning is starting to annoy you xD
 
if you like the way it looks and sounds then it's all good.rb's are built nice and they pretty much feel like a reg wick.
 
I'm also a bit boggled when looking for 2010 RB's. Are these in just that high in demand, or has the production been capped? I'm drooling over one of these puppies:

We had some Quality issues, and we changed some stuff. So the delivery is delayed...
 
Looking at the rockbass 2010 pics here and other sites i must say they look more like a german warwick then the versions before them. I guess they are a good buy. just one tip. when you are in germany and happen to be in the facinity of Cologne (Köln in german) drop by the Music Store (musicstore.com) and try both the german and the rockbass (i am sure they have them both over there just look at their website) and then make your desicion. saves you a lot of thouble and frustration afterward...
 
one of the online sellers had a whole bunch with broken then repaired bad headstocks for sale.i was thinking if there was a problem with the bass or the wood used or just bad shipping i played a five string vett at guitar center.even with the way they keep there stock the bass played nice.
 
Pro-Series could be a good way to look, they should be in stores soon.

+1, these are great basses & in your price range. You should be able to get hold of one in the states soon.

A bass dedicated store, here in Madrid, already have a couple of Pro series "Korvettes", I´ll try to check ´em out next weekend and let you know what I think about them.
