I know there is already a Happy New Year thread but I feel like I need to drop a load on your guys. This year, quite possibly, has been the worst one I've experienced thus far, but that is most likely to be expected in an adolescent male. Going in order, I started the year with that relationship some may remember, with the girl I went to prom with. Well, that fell to pieces in April and all details aside, it sucked. I made several musical accomplishments, especially for a sophmore. I made state, and made nationals, which I will attend in this coming February. Now my summer was better, I got a job lifeguarding, met some cool people, went to a classical bass masterclass/camp in Texas, and just did alot of sitting on my ass. I also got my dream bass rig. I also got some gigs. The only bad part was my boss was a complete bitch, but that happens. The school was off to a rough start, as Junior year is by far the hardest year in the IB (international baccalaureate) program. I joined the swim team with a good start, but now I'm recovering from multiple injuries.

Well, the year goes on and to be honest, I've had a pretty miserably last couple of months. In the past year, my grandfather became very ill, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer. In the past November, I was sick on my bother, but luckily he held out to live for my 17th birthday. He couldn't hold out much longer, and died the friday before thanksgiving. The next day, I was coming out of youth symphony rehearsal, and I tripped and fell, resulting in my bass getting destroyed. 3 years of fond memories, knicks, dings, warn of varnish, blood, sweat, and tears gone in a matter of 3 seconds. In the midst of it all, I was devastated. That was the most depressed I've ever been in my life. I was able to get it replaced, but its not repairable by a shop (too expensive). To say the least, I'm ready for a clean slate, a fresh start, and hopefully a much more uplifting year, especially once February comes around and I go to California for a week to play in Nationals. Maybe a new wick too! Happy New Year everyone, hopefully 2010 is a 10.

You too mate.
Try not to let it get ya down. When I look back at some of the things that made up my youth,it'd make your hair curl. These things are all a part of puberty & growing up Andrew. When you look back,it'll seem less hurtful. But when they're actually happening,it sucks.Sorry to hear about your brother.
Anyway, try to keep yer chin up.
Cheers man.

Yeah my 2009 was a pretty ♣♣♣♣ed up year as well. Hope 2010 will be better. Here's to new beginnings!

I'd say they all build character but when band stuff happens it really does suck. I can get what your going through. My year has had its ups and downs, and the downs have been deep. I don't like going into them all on public forums but i've suffered myself, had good friends die, family members get ill, and pretty serious troubles with my student house.

End of the year has been pretty good gear wise, but i think that's the only real ups...

I'm glad 2009 is over, i'm looking forward to what I know will be a better year.

Happy New Year, and here to 2010 the year that won't suck as much as 2009 :d

Life always goes up and down. When I am down it helps me to know that I'll be Ok again. Of course, when I am OK I am thinking it will be bad again, hihi

lol it's like the elastic band effect. Every time something goes right the elastic band gets pulled a bit tighter, and the better things go the tighter it gets until one day something goes wrong and the band snaps back in your face.

Here's to 2010, i got a feeling its gonna be a good one!! :d

whilst all that stuff sucks to you at the moment, its not worth getting depressed over.

as everyone has said, life has its ups and downs. People come and go, events come and go, possesions come and go....and if you waste time pondering about the bad stuff...the good stuff will fly by and you'll wonder how you missed it all.
