Removing Bridge

Sorry for the silly question.

Is there a way to remove the bridge without goofing up the settings/height/action?

I have a hum that stops when I tough the strings. I am thinking it is a grounding problem.

Don't know much about electronics, but I think that when the hum stops when you touch the strings then your bridge/strings are grounded ok. It must be some other component in your signal path that's not grounded properly. (external preamp? effect? amp?) I'd check for devices with two-pronged plugs (not grounded).

I agree.
There's got to be some grounding problem.
 
As long as the locking set screws that hold the saddle pieces in place are tight, your bridge will not fall apart on you. These are not the ones you use to adjust the saddle height.

Also, watch for brass posts under the bridge that the bridge height adjustment hex screws push against. They're not all the same height nesessarily, and should remain in their original position to avoid needing to readjust your bridge height. These can fall out on you if you aren't aware that they're there.

It is as I thought! I ran another wire fom the pot to the bridge as a ground wire. It took care of the noise.
 
If you have an ohm meter you just measure between the ground on the input jack and the bridge ground. The resistance should be 0 or very close to. If it is, you have some other problem in the signal chain. / mats
