Quick Streamer $$ question

I'm pretty new to the world of Warwick's so bare with me on this.

My Corvette sounds like what I imagine a Warwick to sound like. It has that tight, punchy, slightly growly sound as I expected and just what I hear on a lot of Jamiroquai records. This is the sound I wanted and I am over the moon that I have it. I love my Warwick so much so that I really want a Streamer now. I am looking at the Streamer $$ due to funds and I also like the look of it. What I want to know is because the $$ has two MM style pickups, am I going to get that typical tight punchy growly sound that I associate with Warwicks and primarily the Jamiroquai tone or because of these pickups, is it going to give me something totally different and original?

Please also note, if I did go for a Streamer $$, I would probably go custom shop and have the neck made from ovangkol like my Corvette rather than maple.

The LX will give you a closer sound zender's and the jamiroquai recordings without going for a Streamer stage 1 - athough in the UK second hand SSI's are really cheap normally going for around £600 ish.

If you go the Streamer $$ route i'd leave the maple neck as is, as the corvette $$ can come across as muddy.
 
I like the streamer $$ better than the corvette, because of the maple neck.

I think that the maple neck complements the MM pickups better, being brighter. Of course, if you want a deeper sound, then ovankol is better.
 
Thanks for the replies and help guys. I had a feeling some would say the LX which kind of confirms that would be a better bass to go for. Looks like I will have to do some more saving :) Thanks again for the help.
 
I'm usually one of the bigger proponents of the $$ series on the forum, but I agree with the guys. If you're looking for a "tight... Jamiroquai tone", the $$'s are probably not the best choice. Passive MusicMan pickups have a big/deep tone, so you probably want to stick with active J/J or active P/J...

And that's why I got myself one. I love the bigger tone it gives. It gives me the beefy lows I want. They say they are muddy, I disagree. They have a more low mid growl to them. And Even though Pnut uses Jazzmans, I feel I can get a close 311 tone, without being a total clone. I'd rather have a close tone than a perfect one. If you want a $$ with an Ovankol neck, ever though about a Corvette? Evolve is selling his, if you wan a $$ with an Ovankol, his does.

But if you're going to change your mind. I think I say a red SSI on Ebay for 1,800 to 2,000 USD. There's a Blue one, too, but I believe it more than 2,000 USD.

Linus is in the UK, and well, I'm already second guessing the idea of selling it (even if my Limited Edition $$ gets more playing time)...

Missed the out of state part. Wanna keep it around for a backup, huh? Like you'd ever need one for your LTD.

Funny you should say that... I don't feel like I need a backup for the LTD, so if I keep it, it may see a mod or two... ;)
 
There's some new Streamer LX's on sale in Sydney if you dont mind buying from overseas.It's a reputable dealer(Bass People) & the price is around $2800AU.The exchange rate is attractive too,with the GBP being alot stronger than the AUD.
