Hey gang!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with posting; I've been gigging like crazy! I'm solidly booked until June, which is cool and extremely humbling, especially when you have to turn down other gigs.

Anyway, I have an eight week gap in my schedule that's self-imposed, because the wife and I are expecting our first child! AND IT'S A GIRL! We're trying to scramble around here to turn the office/music room into the nursery at the current moment, while still doing shows (did nine in the last six days...that's right I said it). When I actually have free time, I've been writing a solo piece for my daughter; premiered one of the movements at church Sunday to rousing ovations.

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone!

Congrats on the daughter as well as your band gigging a lot. Having a kid is awesome.

Congratulations Jon, my heart is with you right now. Enjoy this time, it is probably the most beautiful part of your life :-)

Great news! And try to sleep as much as you can right now, when she arrives, you´ll forget what the word sleep means. ;)

Congratulations! I wish continued blessings for you, Jon - both professionally and as a hubby/daddy.

Sleep, what's that? (father of twins speaking  )

Congratulations though, savour every moment.

Thanks everyone! Aside from losing my music room for the nursery, it's been really great!

If anything, it's made me really look at myself and how I act and react to people/things, in a "do I want these attributes to rub off on my daughter?" and if needed, change accordingly.

Was fiddling with our new video camera and recorded a couple of pieces that I'm working on for the little tyke. You can find them .

Hi Jon - congratulations on the upcoming birth of your daughter! It will be a wonderful time...

:d

Well done Jon.
Lookin' forward to seeing the offspring of One Bad Monkey ;)

Congrats, Jon! Bring a little piece of you into the world is a big step, and I think everyone on the forums believe your ready for it.

My wife said she hoped our daughter would play the bass like her dad, to which I replied "The last thing dad needs is to lose gigs to his daughter!"

Jon, you are a terrific musician...and life is about to get even better. Wait till you hold that little girl! Blessings and prayers for your family.

Congratulations, Jon!

Still splitting your playing time between the LX and $$?

Somewhat; the LX is definitely getting the bulk of the electric bass gigs. I've been using the $$ a lot at church, and a couple musicals that have required an electric and upright (but no room in the pit for both) I'll use the fretless.

Very cool.

For me, I've really found a comfortable 'yin and yang' relationship with my LX and my $$. They almost seem like opposites, but together they cover every playing situation I can imagine...

Definitely. The $$ and LX are really far from each other in terms of tone and attitude. I will admit, I'm trying to see if a fretted $$ is in the cards because I'd like to see how it rates compared to the fretless. Although, the fretless is a BEAST.

Yeah, the $$ is an absolute monster! Would you go custom shop?

I probably would again, just to get an exact match to my current $$. It's a high gloss white finish w/matching headstock and a lined ebony board. So, same finish and ebony board but with frets would be pretty hot.
