Putting a high C on a 5 string

I was thinking about making one of my 5 string basses into a E A D G C set up. Anybody ever tried this on a bass before? If so would it work with the JAN3?
 
I've done it on 2 different basses, works fine. Haven't tried on Wicks though.
 
The change in tension will actually be very small (given you will stick to the same string type/gauge) so you won't need a neck adjustment. The nut is a more serious issue because it is normally grooved for a low B, but the adjustable JaN3 will make it super painless as well. :-)

+1...small adjustment needed on the "low B side"...you're good to go :-)
 
I am not sure you need to adjust the nut :) I mean the string height is the same.
 
You could probably lower the E side of the nut slightly as you wont need as much clearance for the string, as for the strings sitting in the gorrves it shouldnt be a huge change, they can sit loose in the grooves no worries. I strung a cheep ibby4$ banger ADGC once and no setup changes were needed.
 
I have all my 5 strings E-C....usually I play 6'ers, and I use chords more than low notes....never had a problem, as long as the nut was cut for it. Sometimes you can get away with it (especially with the JaN3)...but if its cut E-C and you want to string B-D you might have issues and need some filing.
 
I did it on a thumb nt5 & it worked out fine.

Agreed, this would be more of a concern when adding a low string not a high one.
 
Alright I like everybody's response and it sounds like this would work. Now I've got the hard decision of which bass to do this one. I'm thinking about doing it on my Corvette Classic. This might be a cool youtube video.
