As this message is being posted, I am still at the beach. Still hanging out with my bandmates, typing it up on the couch I passed out on from an all nighter out.

First of all, this is the first time I came down with my NT Thumb, as I just got it the week before. I showed it off, my bandmates loved the look and tonal essences of his sonic sound. That was two days ago, we hung out, jammed a bit, then I was the sober driver when we went to bars. I got free soda from the bartender because of that. ;)

The next day, I met up with another band, that has been making a name in this area. The Drummer/Singer (Joey) hung out with us, we had dinner, I showed him and another friend (who was in a band that opened up for Breaking Benjamin a year or so back at the House of Blues) my Thumb... They loved it. They loved the punch it had, Joey said that he'd like to jam with me another time (reason below), which was awesome.

Joey was beat from recording music for demo cds, earlier, and we went out to hand out free 5 track cds to people and tickets for next Saturday (and the Saturday after that) at the Hard Rock Cafe at the Mall and later at the Clubs in Broadway. We all got threats from some bouncers to stop handing out free tickets, but as soon as they turned their backs, we went back doing it.

Tonight, I wasn't the sober driver, but that didn't stop me from having fun, dance with the ladies, and handing out the tickets at clubs.

2 am rolled around and the bars closed... We thought another bar near one of my bandmate's house was still open, but it wasn't But we did see a sight. We watched as a pickup truck pulled out a car that fell into a yard deep pound. We went back to Joey's house, had a little bud, played a little bit of CoD Black Ops, and then left a hour later.

We dropped everyone else off, then I went back to the couch in my bandmate's house to crash.

Now, I'm making myself look a little presentable to go get some lunch, then probably jam or maybe try to finally lay down a bass track for this song my bandmates wrote. If not that, there's always the next week or so.

Hey Lasteffect, so you have a real Thumb now, sounds good, story too :)

Kewl story Lasteffect, but iirc ya also promised us a vid of a yo new beauty ... ???...8:

I still haven't found my web cam, it was lost at my friend's house. And we haven't had the time for me to put down my bass line for the song my friends wrote and recorded. Dunno when we will have time, to be honest.

I will go down, again, this weekend. Mostly to help support our friend's band (Stealing Anger), as they preform at the Hard Rock Cafe this weekend. But I can always promise to update this page after this weekend comes and goes.

If I don't get my cheap webcam found by this weekend, I'll buy another cheap webcam and show your my Thumb with a little sweet cover of Incubus's Glass.

Update! :)

Well, I went down this Friday afternoon. We had a few hours to kill at a bar and watch a local cover band play. I was the sober driver, heh.

We didn't spend too much time doing things, because we had to wake up early to get the gear from storage. Gear: Lights, Fog Machine, and the Light Board. Ed (Sound Tech) had the PA and 8 cabs... two of them had 2x18 speakers. It was up to Ed, my two guitar buddies (Zakk and Ryan), and Joey (Singer/Drummer) had to load all of that, and Joey's drum kit. It was kinda small drum kit, cool orange sparkle ddrum brand, very awesome.

It doesn't sound like too much work, until you looked at the fact of climbing stairs most of the time to load up some of the cabs and stuff. The Hard Rock Cafe had like around 30 stair steps or more. The gig was an outside venue, which had all of us stretching around the rails and hooking everything up in the exhausting heat. It took around 2 to 3 hours to hook all of that up, if not more. We had lunch, left Ed with the gear (Thank you Hard Rock for the free food, and drinks before and during the gig) and went back to Joey's to burn 200 cds (Appearently I was the one with the best hand writing, so I wrote the band's name over the burned cds) containing 15 songs on them (all original). We handed everyone of them out at the show for free, yes. Free. That's how the band rolls.

Anyways, after that was done, it was about time for Donnie (Guitarist) and Ronnie (Bassist) to come on down and set up their gear. Donnie had a nice Fender Strat, but it was nothing compared to his Les Paul Jimmy Page with Dirty Finger pups recently installed. He has a nice Marshall amp and some pedals (the talk box was the coolest to see done live). Ronnie had bass that looked like Fenders, but he made himself. Ronnie use to work at Fender, but he modded his with 3 pups: A P Bass with a P-J-J config and a fretless Jazz with a triple J config. He made the pups and preamp himself too. Seems to me he got the idea from Warwick's Twin J pup, huh? ;)

Now, things start to go wrong a bit. They booked us for two hours. The band wanted to play 20 songs non-stop, no breaks to get in all of their originals with some covers... Almost didn't happen.

Before our gig started, we had to wait for another band to finish from in front of the Hard Rock... which was not owned by the Hard Rock Cafe, but one of the owners of one of the clubs there. Believe it or not, the Cafe is on a long stretch of bars and clubs. It is party central at Broadway, and gigs like that pay high. In fact, there was another band playing around the same time we played, but in another club. But back to the other stage...

This other band was suppose to finish at 10 pm, and they "finished" at 10. What did we do? We started. About 5 songs in, we get someone telling us to stop because the other band is back on stage doing an encore... do you know what the encore act was? Elvis impersonator. We got out staged for another 30 minutes by an Elvis impersonator.

When they ended, the band went back on, and I went on my little staff duty to make sure nothing happened around them, but nothing did, which was a bonus.

Because of the delay, the band went ended at 12:30 midnight. We passed all of the cds out during the show, and now it was time to load everything up. Which took about two and a half hours. Between the last hour was rough, because at 2 am on the weekend the bars close, and all of the stupid drunk Americans leave. Yeah, I said it. But I am an American, too.

I had to stop a drunk from pissing on one of Ed's PA Cabs, and Joey almost got into a fight with another guy banging on his car. Beyond that stupidity, it was a good night. The band play awesome with hardly a screw up. We loaded up and spent the next hour or so at Joey's to wind down and talk about what the future holds for the band.

I dropped Zakk off at his place, a little later, then crashed back at Ryan's. I left today around 4, after we jammed a little bit.

Unfortunately, Zakk never could find where I lost my webcam at his house, so... I'm going to buy a new one. Didn't today because almost everything was closed on the count of Easter Sunday. And I wanted strap locks for my Thumb, too... :(

And now here's a taste of Stealing Anger (the band I was a roadie for).
