So I posted a message in a topic and mentioned my tendonitis and florin commented we should start a campaign or something. Dunno if he was kidding on that part but I'm starting it. So who here has problems with tendonitis when playing and what do you do to cope with or fix it?

I was not at all kidding. I am actually very concerned because it seems that the percent of bassists with wrists/ tendons problems is pretty high.

I had a wrist problem, something with the sinovial membrane, and the tendons. It is fixed now, but I never fuly recovered. Sometimes it is hurting... I've noticed that lifting weights helps...

The best thing is prevention. Being careful of keeping the wrists always straight when playing, and good warming before playing...

if theres one good thing i can say about FIELDY (yes, that guy that makes clicking sounds for bass lines), is that he has a very healthy wrist position.

I have some strain in my left wrist. It exacerbated by typing on a keyboard of all things... some advice would be to stretch and warm up properly... and in all seriousness, keep your computer time to a minimum!!!

My right wrist was not doing well due to +10 hours of computer use a day. I switched to a pen tablet for work, and my wrist is 135% happier, now... Never played enough to get problems, but same idea applies: good technique and varied movements can greatly help... It's repetition that is the killer...

+1

LOL...

I don't know how people play with the bass up over their nipples! esp. fingers style. if I did that my right hand would likely go numb.

My advice is to always warm up & warm down.
Try to wear your bass in a position that's comfortable rather than cool looking.
Train to strengthen your arms.Boxers have some excellent exersizes.
If you're injured, dont igoreit.Get it seen to & if your doctor just says,"well dont play if it hurts",get another doctor.

warm up, warm down, wear a wrist band, vary the position, try to keep the wrist straight, lift a bit of weights, take care of your wrists (inhales)... that's what I do and I don't have any more problems..

My problem's my elbow. Cubital tunnel syndrome. Pressure on the ulnar nerve. Tingly feeling in the 4th and 5th fingers (you point with your 2nd finger BTW) makes playing feel real unpleasant.
