Sure but much more cost wise to sell the bass and buy one with active pickups in future if that matters.
Fwiw I prefer active pickups also BUT only by a tiny margin. .. the passive pickups in my Warwick, Carvin, Musicman, and Logical basses are all AMAZING sounding. Nearly all instruments have passive pickups, including the majority of Warwick basses.

But I can switch to an active pickup if I decide to later on right?
Sure, but it will not be easy or cheap
You also need to replace one or two pots (different values for active).
