Pro Series Corvette neck finish

Hey Warwick Owners,

I need some info about my neck finish. First off, before looking at the pics attached, here's the story:

I have bought a PS corvette bubinga 6st last month from a online dealer a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier when the bass arrived at my doorstep. Opened the package up and checked if everything is in order and plugged it in to my EBS combo, everything went fine. A few days passed and i decided to setup the bass to my personal preference. Adjusted the truss rod by a quarter turn and it snapped! :(

Long story short, i managed to get a replacement neck directly from Warwick Germany (not under warranty) for a discounted price and requested them to ship the neck directly to me as i know a luthier here that can do proper fitting and setup. To my surprise, Warwick or the dealer did Not require or mentioned to have me send the damaged neck back.

Shipment of the replacement neck came a few days ago and i noticed a considerable difference in finish between the two necks. So, i need to have expert opinion as from those who know these stuff as to which finish (satin or natural oil) is on the New neck so that i know whether it can be waxed or not. Below are the pics side by side.

all bo necks are wax finish. probably korea used another basic product. both can be waxed but neither needs it.

Thanks for the info Schlobodan. Yeah, its noticeably different in finish between the two and also on the fretboard. Its even more pronounced without the camera flash but its too dark here as its night time. And also to note the difference in feel is quite substantial. The new neck has more of a waxy feel to it when going up and down the neck while the old one was more "smooth" as if it has been sanded with a fine steel wool.

Korean Pro Series bolt on necks aren't a wax. They're a satin lacquer finish.

there you go! new neck is waxed, but it wont need to be waxed often if you play it.
Interesting wood comparisons! the Korean wenge looks a little darker and tighter grain, but the ovangkol on the german neck kicks butt!
 
I have a pro series here and it sure feels like a satin lacquer. Based on that I asked Flo here a while ago and he checked and came back with a confirmation that it's satin lacquer. Not the first time there been a mistake in the specs. :D

Yeah, the damaged neck definately feels satin when rubbing it and visually too. The new neck looks very waxy, especially behind the headstock. The fb on the new neck is nicer and quite shiny too.
 
They are both Korean necks? They both say Made in Korea anyway!

They were sent directly to me from Warwick HQ Markneukirchen, Germany. Most prolly its one of the replacement necks they have in store and stamped the serial and origin. Maybe Flo knows..
 
Yeah, the serial number is stamped in Germany before shipping - so they should have the same sn
