Greetings! First post here. I just bought myself a GC blowout Corvette $$ yesterday and I love the sound. I've got a little problem, though, and I need some suggestions.

I bought the bass as new, but I guess someone had previously bought it and returned it. Or the guys at GC made the mistake when they had it. It looks like the bass has been waxed, and it's peeling off. I read in the instruction booklet that waxing a colored finish is a no no, so I emailed customer service. The reponse was "if the surface is already handled with Beewax, you will
be not able to remove the demage anymore because the surface is a bit destroyed..."

So what do I do? Like I said, it's peeling, so is there an easy way to get it off? Is my finish really "destroyed"? Anything else I need to know?

Here's pics of the peeling:

Thanks for any suggestions.

PS: I really dig this bass, no matter what the finish looks like. :d

Hmm i'd say maybe use a little bit of lemon oil on a cloth and see if it wipes away?

its not the wax peeling off ha, i did the same thing, its on the wood, the black $$'s get them pretty easily, but you can use lemon oil to remove the wax, it is what i did.

lemon oil but if the finsh is well and truly stuffed you could always sand it back

Welcome to the forum Khristopher!

Don't sand this bass. Ash can be pretty deep penetrated with the black color.
Wipe it off with a clean cloth, and well... that's it. You will still have a great looking mojoed bass :-)

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried lemon oil - while it did make the bass look nice, it didn't take the wax off. The only thing that seems to make that happen is a little fingernail scratching. The lemon oil does seem to even out the waxed/non-waxed sections so you really can't see there's any problem.

All in all, I don't think it's a big deal. I got a great deal on my new favorite bass. That's all that matters now! This thing's got some real tone in it. I can't seem to put it down.

Hi there Forum and Kristopher.

I've got a question...could you post picture of bass and what the finish looks like now?
I think something like this would be very interessiting or mybe also educative
"Kids don't wax your nirvana black if you don't want to have a look like this:twisted:.."
