I have a problem with my "Dirty Blonde" Thumb, the preamp fluctuates in volume. As soon as i play it in active mode this happens. It sounds like a bad connection/solder but i can't find anything wrong. The problem disappears when i play it in passive mode... The cable input is working fine and the battery is new, what could the problem be...?

Help please...!

Check for any loose wires/broken solder for starters..

If you can't find anything there a tech could diagnose the problem for you and you could either fix it yourself or let the tech do it.

WORST case you could have a faulty pot or the preamp could be bad. They're not terribly expensive to replace..

This is hard to diagnose without having the bass in-hand. Like Chris said, look for loose wires or bad solder joints, and if there is nothing apparent - take it to a tech to have a look at it. Let us know what you find out, and we can direct your next step. Thanks!

This may sound stupid but have you tried using a different instrument cable? The weak spot on all my older Warwicks was the jack output, I replaced them on all my Warwicks.

Had a more thorough look today, i can't find anything at all... All solderings are fine and so on. I have tried 3-4 cables and the problem remains. I'll take it to my local music store and talk to them!

Let the doc have a look. Drink a few beers and call back in the morning.
