However...one thing that has set this forum apart from others is the members willingness to answer questions like "how do I wax my bass?" over and over again. I think its important that we stay this way! It makes this community friendlier than most. Nothing turns off new members more than "duh, don't you know how do use search?"

I agree. I became a mod after I was an user here, so did Jester. And we know that is a guy asks a question, he asks it because he does not have the answer. It doesn't matter to me why... Maybe he doesn't know how to use the search button, or maybe he tried and he didn't find an answer good enough, it doesn't hurt to answer to a forum brother.

I agree ... and as you say, generally we do answer anyway. This just helps let people new to forums know that it is generally considered polite to at least try and search first, but as you said, if they don't, someone will generally answer anyway, and I have often seen people posting a link to the thread that answers the persons question, so its all good.
