Post your first bass

did that television survive?

It díd! Even Napalm Death could not kill it! This TV is still running, my brother has it now.

But always watch the beak! Cuts through guitars in the blink of an eye. An egg slicers slicer!!!

I had an Epiphone Thunderbird, which I acquired 2nd hand for a good price.
The problem with this one was that my friend had a vintage Warwick collection... so I was having GAS for quite a little while

Dean Edge 5

My first bass was a dean edge 5 string. (I never used the low B)

This is not a photo of the bass but it’s a photo I found that looks the exact same. (besides the 6th string)

It was a great bass for my age and ability.

Killed the Metallica covers we played in my first band and got me where I am today!

Does the TBird neck dive? I've heard conflicting reports...

My 1984 Squier P-bass. Originally all black. I modified it with a Dimarzio Quarter pounder pick-up and the mirror pickguard. Then I decided to try and paint it about 5 years ago, didn't really get to finish it as my wife became seriously ill shortly thereafter and I had other things to worry about. I painted it 4 different colors and started sanding through the top color to the other colors (think Vernon Reid's white guitar from their first album). I will finish it eventually.

I can't remember the make of my 1st, but I bought it for $75.00 and it came with a little ampeg combo. The neck was so bowed on it, it looked like I could have shot arrows with it.

My bro said he would teach me bass, and to go buy
a $50 bass. The closest I could come was $60. It
wasn't even on display in the local used guitar shop
but was hanging over their toilet, from a bent wire
coat hanger and a nail in the wall.

It had no name and I came to realize that this was
cuz the neck and body were not original to each
other. I hadda cram a pile of shims into the neck
socket cuz when I got it you could fly a 747 under
the strings.

It was basically a P-type. The PG was broken away
where the output jack lived but had been patched
up with roof flashing metal. Someone put a BadAss
bridge on it. I sold it to one of my teachers for $40
so he got his $$-worth in that bridge, but he wasn't
using it for parts. He was gigging it. I did try to buy
it back, but he said he needed it, and I know how
broke he was so that hadda be believed. So I don't
have it anymore but I can be happy knowing what
purpose it served after I parted with it :)

My first actual intact bass was an Epi Les Paul. That
also went to a friend. I think my Kramer Ferrington
was more or less simultaneous to that Les Paul. I'm
not sure what became of that one, but I missed it so
I now have another one. That would be the closest I
have come to still having my first bass.

Current Ferrington:
