Greetings! long ago, I noticed a small problem in the forum, and is the fact that SOMETIMES (not always) we distract our attention from the original question, and we began to talk about other things that have nothing to do with the topic, and consequently, the consultant does not receive a concrete response.. For example:

MATE 1: hey guys what is the difference between the Thumb BO and Thumb NT?

MATE 2: Both have different voices.. By the way, Yesterday I went to a store, and saw a BO in 900 $.. good price!

MATE 3: Wow nice find!

MATE 4: Yeah, what a steal! if I had money I'd buy it!

MATE 2: Thanks dude! but only one flaw, lacks the neck, Pups and the bridge!!

MATE 3: don't do it! not worth!

MATE 5: Yeeeeeaaaahhh a "Neckless Thumb"!! :twisted:

And so.. (Well, the example was a bit exaggerated hehe, but so often happens)

So, wanted to know if you agree to pacts give more specific attention and information on the topics that people are consulting, and once everything is clarified, we can talk about hot chicks, climate change, and neckless basses! Agree?

I agree. I started a thread before asking a question and the first post to my thread was another question that didn't answer my question or relate. WTF! I have also started reading threads that may answer a question of mine but the thread will veer off into other subjects before I get any info. on my question. I then feel like I have to start a new thread to answer the same question that wasn't answered on the original thread. A big waste of time and forum space.

BTW FunkyMan, I answered your request for the larger size forum poster over in the "Warwick Forum Group Picture" thread and I also started a separate thread here in the Caffe, but I haven't heard anything back on it. Got a 717x1000 version posted in both threads and a link to download a huge 4774x6662 pixel version as well. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Agree with that Funkman.

There are some of us that like to add something extra to our comments (I am guilty of that sometimes) but also some other we add a comment to go back tot he original question ( also i am guilty of that and happens a lot in the Caffe).

THanks ffor pointing this out and we'll try to behave and respect without hijacking threads as much as we are able to. :wink:

Whilst I agree that getting off-topic *is* frustrating, and that it often means the original topic raised/question asked is ignored, surely that is representative of normal conversation?

For the most part, if a question is left unanswered, that suggests to me no-one knows the answer - everyone always reads the first post of a topic - if they know the answer, they'll post it. Beyond this, talking about one topic often causes the reader to think about something else (similar or not), and it's natural that they begin to talk about that.

This is how face-to-face conversations tend to go, to my mind. Why should it be any different on an internet forum, which is essentially a medium allowing people from all over the world to talk, without the troublesome issue of physical distance becoming an issue.

For what it's worth, the fact that topics become streams of conciousness, often deviating from the initial issue under discussion, is one of the things that makes this forum interesting IMO. You never know what you might learn from a topic that initially look a bit pedestrian!

(Saying that, a mockup thread turning into a discussion about penile disease wasn't great, it must be said...)

I have both been the victim of and instigator of topic deviation so I can relate. Maybe we should all just remain conscientious of each others' postings and NO HIJACKING!

+2 I do always try to answer the question, but I always try to chat too. What makes this forum great is how much like extended family we've become. Like I know why Lex has two white streamers, if I find out Madrakett bought a Dolphin in the next couple of months I will pee myself laughing no matter what the topic is because I know he deserves it, I know Bengamin is the best MS paint artist in the world! I know Florin is out of control and is trying to buy every Warwick in the universe even though he has a gift CS coming , and this feeling like you have a little insight into everyone is what makes this forum the bomb! :twisted: And most of these things are learned off topic.

This is a friendly forum & that's one of it's adavantages over others.The lack of abuse & insults I believe are because we get to know each other beyond bass & the only way we're going to continue that is to make small talk,chit chat,off topic,whatever ya wanna call it.
I dont mean to sound offensive but if this forum doesnt do it for you?There's plenty of others & they're full of conversation too.
I respect the OP but this is taking things way too far imho.

What you say it's true, that's why I made your topic sticky. A forum is first of all a source of online information, so, the important topics should be clean, and helpful, while we can have all the fun on other topics.
I don't want to start moving and deleting posts, because this will bring frustration to the forumites, that's why it is harder to keep the rule.

I think we need only two rules for this forum,
1- Be polite! Debate the idea don't attack the person.
2- Keep the "technical" topics clean!
