Playing with one of Andy Irvine's drum grooves...

This is the first chance I've gotten to actually record anything since I moved to the new place. I decided it was about time to have a play with some of the nice greasy drum tracks Andy has been sharing through DropBox and put something down. This is a bit sloppy (I'm still not in the pocket like I used to be but I'm working on it when I can). This is my RB Fortress through an old FastTrack USB and mixed in Reaper 64bit on Windows (at the moment). Anyways, enjoy. :)

Oooh, that Fortress is thiiick! That's the '04 back when I didn't like the Rb's much, but it sounds great recorded. I dig it8:
 
Thank you Gerry :) I added the slightest bit of bass and treble at the bass to it. It's fun playing around with these rhythms and seeing what comes out. BTW, did you hear any hiss in it at all? Just wondering as my earlier stuff on here there was pronounced hiss which I couldn't hear in my headphones but was definitely in the mix.

I have a good sound card and no hiss was present. Just fat growly bass!;)
 
Wow, you got nice groove in you, very nice chops. And ofc the bass sounds great.
 
Thanks everyone. As I listen to more of the drum tracks (thanks once again Andy) I'll slap some more grooves up in this thread. I literally played the first thing that came into my head so I'm thrilled that all of you like it. Once I get this groove completed as a proper song I'll post it as well.

Very interesting. The next thing I put up here I'll put my combo in the chain and see if it is still quiet. If it is, that will confirm that there was an issue with the wiring in that other house.

Thanks da-vonk. My baby does sound good, even though she is an old RB. :-). This is the one bass that I will keep until it falls apart. I think all the quakes we've had has added to the sound lol!
