alright... Now that I have money I'm looking into a new pickup for my rb corvette. I can't pick between adding a twin j at the neck or adding an open pole hunbucker. I'm also ordering some bell brass frets and installing the 2 piece bridge I have. After all of that I think I'll be refinishing it with a nirvana black finish. Hopefully it will be great but I need some help deciding which pickups. Which do you think will sound the best with the alder?

I'm not sure I get it, is the plan to have a dual coil pup at the neck and single coil at the bridge?

sounds like your tranforming your rockbass into looking like a real warwick???

since i already have a real 'wick, i'm just upgrading the rockbass to make it a better backup and now i"m trying to give it different tonal options so rather than being a backup it becomes more of a choice for different tone.

i want to change the bridge pickup to either a Twin J or an open pole Humbucker (kinda like an FNA Jazz but with a straight neck pickup)

i want to leave the neck pickup alone.

and i don't like the finish on my rockbass because it has taken a few hits and the little white specks don't look like the mojo i want. so I'm just going to stain it... hopefully with a nice black oil finish... i still want it dark.

the bell brass frets are because they are in the warwick shop and i love the added ring they give my warwick. might as well brighten up the rockbass.

so technically, yes it's becoming more like a warwick, but for playability and tonal possibilities, not to try to pass it off as a warwick. it's an alder body, it can only do so much.

It's good to see you're picking this little project up again Thomas.I just wanted to say something about the frets.Warwick designed & patented their own fretting machine.Your RB has had it's frets installed by this machine which is alot more accurate than a human hand.I understand you want the bellbrass Warwick frets,who wouldnt eh,but bear in mind the re-fret might not be as good as the frets you already have installed.
I just wanted to bring this to your attention to help you make the best decision possible.

Thought that sounded a little weird, that's why I asked, figured it'd prolly be the bridge pickup you'd be changing. Can't say anything about the open pole bumhugger, but the twin J would essentially load the RB Vette with the same pup setup as the Dolphin. So I can speak on that. It sounds frackin amazing. Obviously the body wood will affect the sound, but I'm betting that'd be an awesome pickup to add. Plus the Dolphin has the same 2 band EQ as the Corvette. I have one of both so I do know what I'm on about. The Vette has the 4 knobs, and the Dolphin 2 stacked knobs. But they're volume, pan, bass, treble, exactly like the Corvette. So this combination should work perfectly for you. You might want to add another push pull knob onto one of the tone knobs if coil splitting is a big deal. I think the j-twin j setup would give you the hottest RB Vette on the planet mate!
