Pedullas anyone?

GC up here has 3 pedullas... One having a zebra wood top with matching headstock... It looks real nice... I pulled it down and tryed it out and it sounds like crap! Same with the others they have... The strings on it are new and the action is set low how I like... But still... You would think for that price tag it would sound good.. Anyone tryed one that actually sounded good?

played not a single one. I have to admit though, I really dig the looks of the MVP/Buzz. I sure love petite bodied basses !!!
 
I looked at 2 Pedullas when I bought my Thumb.Really nice basses,heavy & nice sounding,a bit like another brand I know. :P
 
Tried a Pentabuzz here, Nice bass, very fast neck and nice tone but a 7k pricetag?? Crazy...
The coating on the Fretboard doesnt last too long either, so it would cost you a tiny bit more to get it refinished :wink:
 
I tried a pentabuzz at a GC near my place just before I got my Thumb bass last year around this time. It was very nice to look at, and sounded incredible. There was something I didn't like about the feel of the finish on the neck though. It was sticky-feeling, though that could have been because it was a floor model and who knows what was all over it by that point... :shock:
 
I played a rupture with Bartolinis. I digged it. Wouldnt buy one though.
 
i think they're pretty ugly and overpriced
 
I tried a fretless Buzz last year and thought it played great! And I honestly like the way it looks too! But hey, to each his own
 
I played a Pentabuzz at GC about 4 years ago.

Nice bass and everything, but like I say, different things work for different people. I like the sound and feel of a Thumb Bass much more.
 
I thought the NT Thunderbass sounded very nice. Punchy for a NT and has a powerful pre inside. The "bass boost" switch really boosted the mids. I thought it was balanced well and comfortable to play with good string spacing as well. I just don't like flat, skinny necks no matter how "fast" they are. I also prefer basses with a useable passive mode. Construction is good and hardshell case is included but overall I would easily choose a Stage 2 and not because it's a Warwick and I'm on the forum but because it is the greatest sounding, most comfortable bass I've ever played. I'll have one someday. The rapture almost had me. I'll admit it had a great jazz tone with it's maple board but I couldn't get the bass deep and full enough for me. When it's almost there .....the knob stops turning. Besides, when they brought out a FNA Jazzman with a twisted neck I still prefered it's tone to the Rapture. (Found a better one later) The Stingray 5 is higher on my personal list. But to each thier own...Peace.
 
An old MPV I played years ago rank very high in my top list.
Perfect in every aspect.

I love the 'budget' Rapture too.
Light, ergonomic as a Jazz bass, and with a killer sound (especially the J + J).

I have often GAs attacks for Pedulla's.
 
Ok.. my opinions on pedullas changed tonight when I played a pentabuzz... That has to be one of the best fretless basses I've ever played... It looks like they epoxied the fretboard on it and it sounded amazing for slapping... I got a VERY les claypoolish tone on it... It had alot of highs but still very bassey and ALOT of punch... I would still choose my 6 string thumb over it though :)

But that was by far the best fretless I've ever played.

They actually use polyester on the fretboard to make it 80% as hard as glass! Those basses really sing!

Warwick is not using polyester anymore for their high-gloss finish. Polyester proved t be inconsistent and it would crack over time, to we switched to a different material.
 
The black one is actually a lined fretless. Thumbin is right about this one, the tone may move you to tears but so will the price tag. These are very good basses but I can't see paying $2300 for the Rapture even with the sexy fretboard and over $3200 for the Thunder bass...they must have a lot of quilted maple laying around. Anyway, these have been here for at least 18 months, ordered, auditioned and returned. I told them not to hang them next to the Warwicks :wink: Three band eq and passive mode should have been included at those prices Imho. They have a "no picture" policy but made an exception for me so I will try to get a pic of a Thumb you should see.
 
Pedullas are good instruments, but I don't like them at all, I tried a few. Feels girly to me :-)
