Passive corvette 5

Cheers fellow Wickiacks:

I have a chance to get a real good deal on a Used Passive Vette 5'r. I love my Active Corvette and was hoping for some input about the Passive ones with Dynamic correction Pickups. I'm hoping to like it better and then sell my Active bass. (Can't afford to have 2 basses). Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I've got a passive 4 banger and I love it. I sat in on a improv jam last night with it and it killed. In fact, I lead a few times and the Vette was in command! One loud drummer, one reasonable electric guitar, one acoustic guitar, a djembe and vocalist occasionally adding mandolin... yet the passive Vette with my amp set flat had an authoritative voice. Yeah, it was a lotta fun!

Awesome, Thanks for the quick reply. I'm really thinking of pulling the trigger on this bass. Nirvana Black, Black Hardware, A bit rough in condition but I can clean it up.
 
Yeah, cool man. Mine was a little ruff too. It cleaned up easily... little "tweeking" to the setup and viola! Plays great.
 
Sweet. I wonder how close the sound is to my Active vette in passive mode?
 
Not sure if it sounds like active Vette as it has been too long since I played one.
 
i have streamers, i have and had thumbs but the biggest mistake was selling my underrated (compared to my other babies now) passive corvette std!!! no complications just plug in and enjoy the beauty of a natural bass-sound. i really miss it:(

I am curious as well to the difference or closeness in tone. :-D

I know that on some vetts with the Active electronics and the push/pull passive function are coupled with Active Pickups. So you are just hearing active pups with out a pre amp. (Seeing as the battery still needs to be connected even in passive mode) Opposed to a full passive system with out a battery.
 
i have vets with passive and they sound better in a ash body,my when i compare my active vet to a passive one both same woods.the active one sounds better to me even in bypass mode.i would try and come up with the money to keep both bass's even if i had to pick up empty cans and bottles for the dough.
