No paint,glue or anything else,just bare wood.His guitars' bridge pick ups are even mounted directly to the end of the neck as well as mounted solidly to the body.If you need to raise a pick up thin wood spacers are fitted under the pick up to maintain the wood to wood contact,so if you press down on the pick up it wont move.Thats my 2 cents guys.
