Out with the SSII, in with the Vampyre CS

Another option is to run the strap between trousers and belt (soft buckles etc to avoid scratches and dings :) ), the belt and friction will prevent it from dropping beyond a certain level
 
You can also move the strap to underneath the horn, to create a lift.
 
Well to anyone who's thinking of drilling their Vampyre I've done it!
I only payed $300 for my RB Vamp so wasn't too stressed about a bit of surgery as it sounds & plays pretty good but balanced lousy.
Moving the front button made the biggest difference & now sits pretty much at the 13th fret, well worth it but the rear one could probably be left depending on the angle you like to have your bass. If I did it again I would maybe go a touch higher at the rear too.
It now sits just like a Streamer.
The last pic is a bass that I'd seriously consider owning but a bit more expensive! Another reason to try on the cheapie first...
