anyone knows the MXR M-88 Bass Octave? How does it compare to the EBS, Boss or EHX?
 
I don't know except for the boss and the EBS octabass, and I didn't like either. The tracking was not great on either of them. sounded weird and inconsistent at best.

Agreed on the EBS OctaBass. It trigger pretty lousy on low frequencies. Everything above the loose A-string works 100% and is awesome.
 
The Octabass doesn't seem to trigger at all below the A string. I wonder if EBS did that on purpose... I would think that the octave would muddy the sound of the bass down that low.
 
For some reason the octave effect on the whammy pedal sounds really good, but nothing else, except making really wacked out sounds.
 
how about getting a SLIDE and combining it with your whammy pedal :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
I use the EBS octa bass, and I am very pleased with the results. It actually triggers very very good. Ok, you are right, it goes down to A (actually to G very well) But you know... How low you really want to go? A low G is not enough?

There's also 8 string basses which triggers an octave high without problem.
 
I tend to use my octiver thing in my korg G5 and that tracks well down to a low B, but its not a true octiver, just does 1 octive down and is mostly used to help with synth sounds, so its pretty limited soley as an octive pedal, but for me it does the job.
 
My SWR amp has a built in subwave (octaver) that I like. The best part is it has a blend knob so it can be adjusted so as not to dominate the dry signal. I add in just a little so things don't sound too synthy...

It sounds really nice above the 7th fret. I don't like to generate anything below a standard C though, and I never play anything on the E-string with it engaged. Just doesn't sound natural at that point.
 
I use my old boss OC2 with the double low octave knob all the way off. Cant get better than that. Any note lower than an "A" sounds like mud anyway, so why would you want to go lower.

My colon rattles at a a Low "C" on my 5 string!! dont really see the point of going lower than "A". Speakers dont usually like it at stage volume either. Not to mention the sound guy, its the best way of getting your bass shut off in the mix if he has compressed the crap out of it cause your rattling his subs. Defeats the purpose really.

Octave effects sound their best at the higher registar on bass anyway IMHO.
