Can anyone shed some light on why I have been unable to contact Warwick via their email inquiry system. I have tried 4 different times using several email addresses and as of yet have not received any reply.

Strange, normally they always mail back very fast. A lot of times it's HP himself.

It might depend on the questions you have asked them... What are the emails about? If its something hard to find, they might be having some time finding your answers.

Send a PM to Florin, the Forum Admin. He knows these things.

I am sending email via Warwick's Inquiry system in an attempt to get some advice regarding how best to fix some deep scratches in a new Corvette $$ bass I just purchased from local dealer. It was damaged in the store and I was able to get it at a reduced price due to the damage. I just need someone in the know to give me some advice on the best way to go about fixing this cosmetic issue. I know I can sand the gouges out but I then I'll need to re-stain the wood where the repair is. THought the boys at Warwick could advise as to the best product for the job and perhaps obtain the same oil stain they use in a minute quantity.
So far not a word from them...

Not having the instrument on my bench, it is hard to give any serious advice that would not be speculation. If you really want to fix it properly, and that you're not sure about what you are doing or your woodworking and finishing skills, you might want to go to your local qualified technician to seek some reliable advice...

Where are you living?

I have a photo if that helps...
I am confident I can fix this myself IF I were to be given some tech advice on the procedure and type of stain needed to complete the finish. I have done enough woodworking and cabinet making to do this but feel I shouldn't just jump in without Warwick's advice.
I live in Huntington WV 25705 USA

Hi Voxman,

Alexandre is THE guy that can reply to you so I'd pay attention to what he is saying. ;-)

Maybe we don't reveal all our secrets, but also maybe if you PM him, and ask him nicely, you will get some answers.

Cheers,

Flo

I'd say, try to live with it if you can. I'm not sure you'll get the right stain, nor the right finish to touch it up properly to a satisfactory standard. There are too much factors involved in making a 100% touch-up, you'd need to find a compatible lacquering. Your best chance would be to completely refinish the instrument. If you really want to give the repair a try, I suggest you make some tests with staining on a piece of similar wood before, and try with some sealers and satin lacquering products.

Just my two cents, though...

Well thanks everyone for their advice... it appears I am on my own. I guess I was expecting more technical help or at least some guidelines into how best to make the gouges disappear. Not knowing what kind of finish and stain is on the bass will make it more difficult but I'll manage to come close enuff to hide the blemishes.
Still don't know why I haven't gotten ANY email repsonse from Warwick's tech support. What's up with that? BTW, I'm not the only one who didn't get any response....
Chow!

I agree with Alex (see Alex, some people do pay attention :P)... if you had a high polish finish you might have some luck, but the coloured oil finish is notoriously difficult to repair invisibly. In my opinion, a couple of scratches look better than a visible attempt at repair. Up to you of course, but I'd either refinish the whole bass, or leave it be.

Sorry you didn't get an email response. I don't know why you didn't. Maybe they're busy, and you still might get one?

...and BTW...

Chow is a form of food.

Ciao is to say good-bye.

:d

You may try posting this on a luthier website, or at least luthier section of a guitar or bass forum. Or even a carpentry forum. After all, we are just talking about wood and stain here.

Well he didn't paid attention about what I said now... Alexandre Salmon replied, and he is still asking why nobody replied :-)

Florin,
I am not that familiar with the Forum folks to know who works for Warwick and who doesn't.. anybody can put up a sign by their name. I am referring to a direct email channeled from Warwick like a normal email correspondence. Please accept my apologies if I am a little dense in figuring out who is who and what capacity they serve in Warwick. I submitted the emails to Warwick directly and received no responses yet. A little disconcerting to me. The only reason I went to this Forum is in hopes of finding out what is going on with Warwick. My friend also made 3 different attempts to reach them via email and have not heard a word back either. Is Warwick not responding to emails?

Shaft311,
Well I could check out a luthier website but would they know what specific stains and finishes Warwick uses??? Still hoping to get some info from the folks at Warwick that would be useful to know before I go messing with the finish repair.

Hi Buddy,

There is nothing to appologize, I hope I didn't sounded like you did something wrong :-)

This forum is the right place to do research, and Alexandre is the right guy. Ask him on PM and he will help you. Also you can write to [email protected] or [email protected]

This is a very busy moment, as we are preparing for Frankfurt Musik Messe

However, we reply to all the mails, most of them in minutes, and by Hans Peter Wilfer himself (that's the owner) So the only reason could be - 1- the sustem has a problem, 2- the mails end in junk mail...

So stay with us, and use the search function, we had issues like that before, and there are good answers already here :-)

let me know if you need more help!

Cheers,

Flo

Flo,
Thanks so much for the info and help! And again excuse my density but I do not know what you mean by "asking him on PM"? What is the PM?
I'd say the server has a problem... and there is nothing in my "junk mail" folder...
I'll keep trying!!!!!!!
Thanks loads!
Herzlichen Dank

He meant sending a private message to Alexandre :-)

Anyway, our website inquiry stuff seems to suck sometimes, I'll submit it to the guys in charge, you'll probably have better luck using the email contact adresses.

And yes, seriously, we DO answer ALL emails very quickly (when we get them). I know it sounds like salesman horsecrap, but we really do. I'm sorry if your email did not make it through the system, don't blame the recipients, blame our IT guys ;-)
