Has anyone ever played their/or someone elses Warwick with Nordstrand pick-ups? I was offered a trade for my Lakland with someone who has a standard Corvette with NJ4 pick-ups. Would this be a reasonable trade for the 44-02 Deluxe, or do you think I could get a few dollars out of it as well?

Thanks!
Justin

Saw this on T***Bass and decided to answer here. I would say go for the 'vette! It is an awesome bass. I am totally biased in this. :D ..I'm not familiar at all with Lakland or the pickups you described but as a died-in-the-wool Warwick guy, Go for it! Not much help, I know..But again, Go for it!

Never heard them on a Warwick bass, but the NJ4 are among the finest J-style pickups ever made.

Traditional jazz growl at its highest level.

I've heard 'em in a Fender.... Sounded really good.... Nice pups

NJ4s are made to sound vintage aint it? i don't justify the warwick being made to sound vintage.

i thought of slapping on a set on my mexican jazz though

This is correct. But to each their own, and Nordstrands are very top-of-the-line high quality, though I think "vintage" goes better with Fender than with Warwick IMHO.

I dont know much about the pups but the Lakland is a pretty good bass and i would imagine quite an expensive one. I owned a 44-01 which would have been about the same price as a Vette. I think if you swapped it you might be shooting your self in the foot economically. Tho I would like the Vette! :D

I had a set of Nordy NJ5's in my Thumb 5.

Get them, they kick ass. Even though they are a vintage reincarnation they had a tone that still felt modern to me and they sounded awesome in my Thumb.

The MECs seemed thin to me so I first chaned the pre to an Aggie and it did help a little, but when swapped the nordies in it really opened the top end and gave it some more "Crunch" in the mids (in a somewhat vintage way).
