Plus, the prize gives Obama much stronger position in what he wants to achieve.
For instance, Lech Wałęsa got the prize in 1984, 5 years before what he started actually brought any serious result (breaking the communist system in Poland and later in East Germany, Czechoslovakia, USSR and so on). But he probably wouldn't be a strong opposition in negotiations with that establishment without the prize. In fact, he was in prison at the moment (his wife received the prize) because of political reasons. He probably would never get out of the jail and finish his job without that prize. That was also the case with Nelson Mandela. Apartheid was still going strong in South Africa at the time of him getting the Nobel Prize.
It just seems that way because you live in Detroit...![]()
OSLO. Sweden is not that stupid. It's the only price we don't decide.
Well, apparently Pres. Obama is playing
better in Stockholm than in Copenhagen.
PATHETIC. Giving Obama the prize is like giving Usain Bolt the gold before the race. I mean, you know he CAN deliver, but you have to run the race first. Nothing against Obama - I just think it's top grade ass kissing in this case. Giving a proactive peace prize? WTF? If he'd actually manage to create peace in the middle east during his term, fine - but that is years away at the least.
I think Norway should have their nomination privilege revoked instantly.
