Turn your belt to the side!!! If you are right handed move your belt buckle to the left and if you are left handed move your belt buckle to the right!!! IT IS THAT SIMPLE
 
I dunno how I ever got by without this tip,thanks mate. :lol:

HAHA I THINK IT IS FUNNY THAT NO ONE REMEMBERS THIS TIP. MY DAD TOLD IT TO ME BECAUSE ALL OF THE BANDS IN THE 70'S WERE DOING IT. PRETTY OBVIOUS IDEA THOUGH.
 
or get one of those cloth belts with small buckles, and don't tuck in your shirt (who would tuck in their shirt in a gig anyway?)
 
You can also play your bass behind your neck. Some guitarists do this too..................... 8)

on occassion when i forget my sunburst green T-back
 
I don't like the look of it but some people put gaffa tape all over the back of the bass to protect it. Sure it protects it but that's gonna be one sticky bass when the tape comes off.
 
How about braces? or some string to hold your trousers up? :D
 
Play in your birthday suit! Solves that and your band will probably get more attention

Or you can use the gaffa tape to hold your trousers up!
 
My belt has studs all around it.

I don't wear a belt when I play :mrgreen:

I played a gig last week though that we opened for Mystic Prophecy, with none other than former Stormwich bassist and Warwick endorsee Martin Albrecht playing for them. His Thumb NT5 had some belt rash but nothing too bad surprisingly...
 
Pft, newbs.

Use the force.

Start practising with rocks, and eventually hone your technique to the point you can float your bass in the air and play it with your mind. Also means no dying for your set to end if you desperately need a piss - always makes buckle rash seem the least of your problems.

Valuable lesson passed down from my teacher
 
Why not just buy pants that fit you and leave your belt at home?

I mostly don't bother with belts unless I'm doing job interview or similarly formal activities.

I feel incomplete with out my belt and triumph belt buckle...
 
For me to protect the back of the bass, I wear an untucked buttonless shirt.
My basses never get marked up in the back.
