Nirvana black stain on KOA AAAA

I am wondering if a Nirvana black stain finish on KOA AAAA would leave the grain visible or is it a too dark wood?
 
I dont think it'll be a problem. NBK COF has been applied to alot of different woods, both light & dark.
I mean, it can only make it black, right? There's NBK afzelia & that looks ok.
 
That would be good news, i am thinking about a CS and its gonna be awesome. At least in my head :-)

Yo, no worries matey.
Take a cruize past the custom shop gallery. There's a Streamer Stage 2 with an NBK NOF finish over afzelia, & imho, looks mighty fine. Can only imagine how better it'd be in the wood, I mean, in the flesh.

Speaking as an owner of a custom, Koa-topped bass, I would advise against it. It would be a shame to have anything else than natural Koa. So beuautiful on its own. I think you will lose the beauty of the wood. I suggest flamed maple instead. Very similar in sound and it colours better.
 
After checking several KOA AAAA tops, there are also a few in the CS gallery (Corvettes), i have to agree with Samuel. The natural top is just gorgeous. But then the next challenge. Would it be possible to have a solid black HP back and neck and a natural HP top and matching headstock (with NT invisible neck). I just don't dig the lighter back wood (ash) and different neckwood visible on the back.

Of course you can :-)

We don't do two finishes for the same bass unfortunately... So... nope, it is not possible. But you can chose for a darker wood for back.

Dude, I posted that link to help you out man. If you read more into it than that, that's your prerogative.That link, if you care to actually read it, will basically answer most of your questions, possibly making asking here unnecessary. But if you want your hand held & someone to mother you, we're here for you.
You can ask whatever the hell you like as far as I'm concerned. If you gotta problem with the way I do things, you can always take it up with the admin (Florin).

As far as i am concerned no need to feel offended or anything. I was just wondering if the Warwick inquiryform was the way to ask these kind of things, since you put it there without anything else.

Oh, no... The situation was with someone else. The posts were deleted, so it doesn't show anymore. It was someone posting advertisement 4 or 5 times, two before my post and three after I mentioned it. I had to inform Flo on the chatbox to make sure the bot was taken care of.

Since its taken care of, I'm sorry that you believe I was reffering to you. Sorry about that.
