Hi guys,

We are in the middle of recording some songs with my band. You can find some short vids of some gigs and recordings in another thread. Go to 'Warwick On Stage' and then something like first Stryker pics...

We also demo'ed some songs. This ones called Song For Melanie. We weren't entirely happy, so we changed the solo, the pre-chrous is much shorter, the whole song is shrter, ctachier, better, some new lyrics. Unfortunately I can only let you hear the old demo one, but we bought a very cheap cam and we shot a vid for it ourselves:) No help, no budget, half a day.. Hope you like it!

Heh, I enjoyed both the song and the video very much. Making the song shorter will definitely improve it overall! I liked the couch concept it gives a lot of room for different scenes with the band members. You definitely look like musicians :). The scenes you took are very nice, the only thing I thought was a bit problematic was the transitions. I can't pinpoint what it is exactly, perhaps different synchronization with the song's beats, or more frequent transitions, e.g. more frequent transitions in the more intense parts of the song and less frequent on the calmer ones. Overall, and especially with the means you had available it's very well done indeed! :)
 
Thanks! Yeah, we just bought a camera, started shooting without the song on and just see what would happen. It certainly isn't a pro vid, but we live in 2010, lots of people only check music at YouTube and we think this captures a bit how we practice as a band. But I totally agree with your points.
 
PS. Heh, I find the la la la thing gets stuck in my head, it's really catchy. I bet it's not the first time you hear that. :) Best of luck with your work!

Very nice curtis! I definitely dig the tune, and the amateur-ish video sort of matches the indie-rock feeling of the music. I'm a fan! (And nice Stryker cameo too. :d)

Speaking as an Italian/Australian,this really concerns me Curtis.I feel I needed to raise this little faux pau(sp) in the inteests of cultural accuracy.The Asian version ya's could change the pizza for rice.The Ra Ra Ries.:idea:
On the up side,this is the ONLY fault I could manage to find,in an otherwise great song & video.The cheap camera really works well I think.

Great video though, I really dig the tunes Curtis!
 
Ha ha! I laughed my ass of... Yeah, we have to record a song in Chinese and call us The Ra Ra Ries (or Rice?). And you know? They will pronounce it as La La Lies;) No intention to really offend Asian people here, of course!

I have to defend myself here: I normally do eat pizza by hand, but I ordered a pizza calzone, which is a wrapped pizza, the size of a chicken. I needed tools!

No offence towards our Asian brothers & sisters on my part as well.
Or to the Italians,& their sloppy chicken sized pizza,that really needs some good old tools,to succesfully eat.
