I just placed an order for a Analog Man Mini BiComp pedal. $245.00 was a bit of a hit, but considering it's two compressors in one (a CompROSSor ROSS clone and a Juicer Orange Squeeze clone) and built to the original specs with hand-picked better quality components, I figure it's worth the price!

My plan is to leave the CompROSSor side transparent and engaged constantly, to help tame my E-H Micro Q-Tron, then kicking in the Juicer side for those moments of tightly squeezed funky slaps and pops. 8)

I added express shipping, so it should be here this week. With its grey coating, it'll look nice between my grey Micro Q-Tron and grey Nano Small Stone... :lol: Will post updated pic of the pedalboard once the BiComp arrives.

It's Christmas in July! :D
 
Very nice. I've looked at those before, but I have yet to buy a compressor. Let us know how it works.
 
Is it possible to post some sounds clips as that sounds like a really cool little compressor pedal you go there.

I'll try and set something up to record into my laptop after the pedal arrives. There are sound clips on the Analog Man site, but they are of guitar only, not bass, although some big name bass players like Tony Levin and Will Lee use and love their Bi-CompROSSor pedals (the bigger version of mine).

So pics and clips to come...
 
Just got an email from Analog Mike saying he got a lot of orders over the weekend, so it'll take him a few days to build; guess it won't be here until sometime next week... As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder! 8)

My Analog Man Mini BiComp finally arrived yesterday and I gotta say, WOW! :shock:

Here's a picture of it:



I tested the Mini BiComp with my Squire Vintage Modified Jazz (passive electronics) and my Warwick $$ 5-string (passive and active electronics). I also tried the BiComp with my E-H Micro Q-Tron and with my newly acquired ZVEX Fuzz Factory.

In all cases, I could not believe how sweet the Mini BiComp was! I could control the output of the Q-Tron to keep it from getting too hot (that pedal really needs a volume control!) by setting the ROSS side, and I could still kick in the OS side for some sweet squash! I also noticed that the lows stay intact vs. my Dyna Comp, and the ROSS side stays DEAD quiet! Of course the OS side is a little noisy, but it is such a gentle hiss that it is not offensive at all. I do like the two switches being close enough to kick the ROSS side off while kicking on the OS side, as using the two together does get a bit too noisy. What a cool way to have a variety of vintage compressions in such a compact unit. I also find that I can get the ROSS side to do an almost transparent compression that’s as good or better than my Aphex Punch Factory opto compressor!

The Mini BiComp is definitely like no other comp pedal out there and it is THE ULTIMATE vintage-style stompbox compressor by far! This pedal completes my tone chain with the most important component at the best quality and performance.

Yes, I ended up getting a second new toy: the Z. VEX Vexter Series Fuzz Factory.



I can’t say enough about how awesome the Fuzz Factory is, and I love the chrome finish of the Vexter. This is the best, coolest, and wackiest fuzz by far, and I have many endless possibilities to explore yet with it. The only lack is that because it's a germanium FUZZ, it cuts the lows out, as it should. What it needs for bass is the ability to blend the dry bass signal in with the fuzz, ala Larry Graham. Zack won't do this mod, but I know a local guy who I will probably have "bass-tardize" the unit...
 
Minus the Line 6 pedal this could almost be mistaken for a vintage pedal board from the 60's or 70's. Very nice! 8)
