Gloss back filled in serial. All parts look original except that 250k pot for treble. Seems like a weird choice. Anyway, as the story goes the guy I got this from took it in trade for tattoo work in 1989. He claims to not have played it. Which is weird because its obviously well played and all the way up the neck. When I polished the very tarnished frets it was clear this was not a standard rock root note bass. Plenty of marks, fret wear all the way up including all the finger goo I cleaned off the fretboard. Whoever played this PLAYED THIS. Neck had to much relief and heavy strings. Taking tension off and working the truss rod I was able to straighten neck manually and then use rod to HOLD it straight and it now has perfect relief with 45 - 105 strings. I still need to source that pot. Am putting in a 25k alpha when it arrives to I can actually hear the electronics. Right now the J is way lower output than the P. Which I assume is because of that one pot with 10x expected resistance. Acoustically it sounds fantastic and growls. The P actually sounds pretty good as is plugged in. But I reserve judgement until that pot arrives. In my area, no one stocks parts anymore other than 250 and 500k. The MEC pot I can only find in Germany? Any knows better please inform. I'd like to put proper pot in.
