Ok so about three months ago I bought a brand new Corvette double $$ bolt on from Germany. Love this beast, sound and quality and tonal range. I will post pics soon once I get that figured out. So I have a question???? I know have a chance of maybe obtaining a Thumb bolt on made in Germany at a very reasonable price it's new 2012 I believe. Can't play it due to location. It's a four string like my Corvette. Will there be much difference between the two basses or am I duplicating the total ranges.:?:

Short answer: A Thumb is a Thumb. No other bass, even other Warwick models, can actually sound like a Thumb.

Yes, they sound completely different. If you want an idea, just get on Youtube and watch some videos. They tell the story.

I happen to agree and repeat. No other. You won't get a Thumb from a Corvette. You most likely won't get a Corvette from a Thumb.
And you won't get to own 2 Warwicks if you don't get that Thumb, which is even more dangerous. :eek:
 
BIG sound difference there. Vette is ash/maple/wenge (body/ neck/ board) with two bumhuckers essentially in the middle and neck position. Thumb is ovangkol/ovangkol/wenge iirc. plus it has that pup waaaaay at the back in true warwick style. very different beasts.
 
Thanks guys for the input like I said I'm new to this Warwick thing and having lots of fun with my Corvette double$$. Have been playin mostly with a Rickenbacker 4003. Hmmm I think I'm gonna have to go for the Thumb. Again thanks and I will post on her arrival.

They are so different, you otta have them all....

You bet, I discovered Warwick around 2001 (thanx to TalkBass and Bass Player mag), almost 9 years later I gor my first ´wick, and the second one came a year after it. :)

Pretty much agree. Can hardly think of anything more opposite to a Thumb
than an ash body $$ ! OTOH, all of my ash Vett $$s [3 IIRC] have ovangcal
necks. Has that changed for newer production ? [I'm reading your post ... ].

Oh yea .... welcome noob ! And bag that Thumb. The sooner you get your
2nd Wick, the more you'll be ready for your 3rd ;-)
 
Oh i thought the $$ vettes were maple necked. i could be wrong. maybe i was thinking of the streamer $$.....
 
My Thumb B.O 4string is on its way from Arizona as we speak. And now just waiting game.
