keeping with the katana but...how about a twin jazz in the bridge?
and putting a kill switch in the upper horn?

a twin jazz at the bridge might be cool, what about going one step further and going with a jazzman configuration: MM humbucker at the bridge, and an open-pole J high near the neck, at the katana position...

for mockups, that will have to wait a bit, I'm ultra busy these days, and have no time for mockups, unfortunately....
 
ah yeah. crazy ideas. im afraid if i do this stuff ill got way up in the price tag. i wanna try and stay under 3000. so i think the twin jazz won't do much to it. what kind of bridge pickup would look really cool and help with my quest to achieve claypool tone with a warwick?
 
his tone is very mid-rangy and growly, so a lot of warwicks would do great!

you want maximum sonic range in order to nail the tone just right? get a $$ configuration, but put one pup nearer the bridge, and one near the neck, like a katana... then flip those switches and twist those knobs until you're happy with what you hear! :P
 
yeah, true. the reason i like the twin jazz is because its still a jazz pickup, but it can be a humbucker!! but i find myself goin back to the orginal, cause this bass will, with out a doubt, be a funk machine!! it would be so cool to go back in time, take a katana with you, and hand one to james jamerson!!!
and with all the knob twisting, i usually set everything flat, and mess with the pickup blend, and i figure i need a 4x10 for a more precise claypool tone, but i can get close with my corvette.
fuck, im back to the orignal. well, atleast your first mockup makes for a great desktop and encouragement to save money!!
 
You know, if a stock katana is fine for your needs, don't mess with it!

Get it with black hardware, in black finish, which are not CS options, and be happy! :P
 
well, im getting the bass cleff inlays (thats cs). every one of my teachers would think thats awesome!! and with mikes chop shop (he said $1900 for standard with black finish and black hardware) im guessing it would be close to 2000 with the inlays. only one problem...

i need a job.

heh, HEY WARWICK, need a 15 year old to do anything in the middle of the US?
