Picked this up recently, but was having trouble stabilizing the broken Just-A-Nut. The seller told me it was broken, but that he had shimmed it up to where it worked, and he was correct. However, when I changed the strings, I wasn't paying attention, and I dropped the nut and all of the shims. It took me a while to get it right again. Then I put a set of D'Addario EPS300-5 Pro Steel strings on it, since they're taperwound. I had a rattle on the E string that I just couldn't seem to get rid of. Turned out to be a bad string! I put an old Sadowsky stainless E string on it, and it was OK. So I played it at church yesterday, and it sounded great. It's an '04, with an Ovangkol neck, which I was able to adjust easily.

I've emailed D'Addario about the string, and I'll probably order a new nut from the Custom Shop, but for now, it's great.

You mentioned going through the custom shop for a new nut. Just want to make sure you know, the place you'll want to contact for that is the Warwick showroom in Nashville. Give Jon a call or email and let him know what ya need. He'll ship it to ya quick, at the best price.

That goes for any Warwick part ya need, including beeswax.
 
Congrats! I have an 04 FNA Jazz too and it's amazing, the tones you get outta that pickup config! The just a nuts from those ones almost always break (the little side tabs snap of) but I just went and got a brass just a nut for my bass when I got it too :)
 
Forget black hardware. That's a fine looking gold dressed Jazzman. Beautiful.
 
the FNA tone pallette is one of the best. like a stingray on steroids.

on board mids on the preamp too :) :)

Oh yeah. I used mine for everything. I still regret selling it. It just sounded so thick with the wenge neck and SD pre. I think only the SD preamps had the mid trim pot, yeah? I'm not sure if the models with MEC preamps had that.

not to sure but the 3 band Eq on shelby's fna was vol/blend, bass, mids and treble. the preamp innards look just like my Thumb NT which has the same configuration.

Cool. What year? I believe the MEC preamps were 02-later. Previous to that were SD preamps. Each had 3-Band EQ.
 
I've got the 04. Not really sure why it is the way it is but then again Warwick are historically all over the place with when they want to change things, some changes taking years to filter in/out...
