So, I got a call from this band... check it out:


Haven't played with them yet. The male singer's style is not my cup of tea, but I really like the music and the backgroung-singing ladies :)

Do you think it's good? I'm not a pro, but I have some skill to be one eventually ;)
 
I like it mate.Quite sofisticated sounding & pretty commercial imo.Naming a band after an Aussie marsupial is bound to make you 17.64% cooler.
 
Hm..incubus/jamiroquai clone, but that's not necessarily bad.

The only dislike is that they aren't really that good :? Timing and rythm is just really off, as if everyone's in their own world instead of in a band.
 
I'd love to be in on something like that.

Cool man - I think you're lucky to find some pretty darn competent musicians that are into that sort of music (particularly in Cardiff).

Whilst they aren't the tightest of players, it's competently played. The singer is a bit 80s sounding, the chord progressions are a bit tired but I reckon it would be a fun and interesting band to play in - hope you go for it.

so I've been to the rehearsal session yesterday - I really like it! The records on myspace were done really quickly some time ago, just after the songs were written. Everything sounds much better now - really tight and funky. The singer sounds better as well - he also plays keyboards, so he has to keep his singing simple, which is good.
I have to say - they like my playing (the drummer is really amazed by my time) and they really love the fact that I play Warwick :)
Some gigs are already booked...:)

hey bro... i'd give my middle nut to be asked to play with a band like this. where i am in the states, bands that play that type of music (the music i love to listen to and play the most) seem to be non-existent. congrats on the sweet hook-up. hope to hear your funky bass lines in those mixes soon. keep us posted.

Congrats, Jeremiah! I remember seeing them posting for a bassist. Are you still doing Never Say Uncle?

btw, I just got an e-mail from the bandleader saying that they'd love me to be their bassist - so I can say it's pretty much sorted :)

I know they're probably not the tightest musicians in the world - but I'm not as well. It's the most demanding (playing-wise) band that I've been in, and I really get along with the guys, so I'm happy.
One of the best things is, they really make progress. They play better now than when the songs were recorded, the singers' singing got better and simpler as well.
I think my joining is as good for me as it is for the band ;)

I'm glad to hear that they've improved and I was going to say that the best way for your own playing to improve is to interact with a band. This is my kinda music as well, though as Steve pointed out, hard to find here in the States, so congrats on finding a great situation where you can play awesome music and grow with the band as well! :D
