New Band recording, would love some opinions!

Hi!

I am not sure if i am posting this in the right forum (i hope i am) anyway my band recently sent out our tracks to get mixed/mastered in california and theyre slowly coming back to us hehe.

I would love to know what peple think, good or bad, happy or sad id just love some feedback. The songs can be heard here: www.myspace.com/lifelikethemovies and the new tracks include "Come On Come On", and "Don't Kid Yourself".

I like the music very much: aggressive without sounding hostile or "too much". :wink:
Awesome you play a Thumb 5 BO. :twisted: If I may be so rude to give my opinion about the sound of the songs. The two songs you recommended sound very "open", leaving plenty of space for you, which you fill nicely. However, I feel that the Thumb's harpsichord like treble is cut too much; with a bit more of this trebly sound, I think that not only the Thumb, but the entire sound of your music will be more coloured. 8)
Generally, you guys kick butty: keep on rockin' !!! :twisted:

I agree with what youre saying regarding the treble being cut a little too much. I think this is because of heavy compression put on my track. When i play live i make sure to boost the treble just a tad to give it that zing. Also worth mentioning is that this is the first time i wasnt able to sit down with the engineer mixing the tracks and give my feedback (as i have alot of studio experience), however, on "Come On Come On" i made sure that some of the higher frequencies will be boosted so that the small slap part in the song would stick out more, and the tone on that song is pushing more high frequencies than "Don't Kid Yourself".

Again, thank you so much for taking the time and listening and giving feedback. Its so much more valuable coming from a fellow bass players than just anyone.

It's not exactly my favourite music but it's well done. Sometimes a little bit too much notes on the bass (Come On arround 3 minutes) but it's an opinion from someone who has always something to say...
Your bass sound & playing are excellent ! Nasty and precise.
This is bass power !
 
I like the cut treble tone of the Thumb, makes it fart pretty good and you still cut through. Really good tunes man!

I like that dark slap tone very much! :) ...about the music, like someone said it's not my kind but I think it's very well done
