Hi folks!

I´m searching for a SSI 5 str and found that there`s one on ebay US.
The user equipmant has really possitive feedback, I can trust that, but I´m a bit afraid about customs as I live in Barcelona, Spain.

Any of you bought anything from this user: equipmant ?
Did you pay customs in europe?

Any references would be apreciated.

Cheers

Can't really help you on any specifics. Only from what I know about the way it works in the Netherlands:

the "total" price(that means shipping included) you pay the seller.
+3,5% import duties.
=the "total" price, including import duties.
+19% value added tax
=The grand total.

Import duties and taxes are paid after the goods have arrived at the customs
So, roughly, it's about 25% extra and the items is yours, unless your buying something bellow 22 euro's then it's duty free.

I don't know how it works in Spain but maybe this is something to keep in mind

Thanks man!

Would take that into account...

I know some forum members already bought from this user, maybe they add some comments

i can vouch for that guy... his name is paul booth and just like me he is 27 years old... i got my darklord from him and it got to me in 2 weeks... which is very cool cause i ordered this pedal and it took 1.5 months to arrive and man, its just a pedal.

when you msg him, tell him that "reuel from the philippines" recommends you...

i believe hell visit the philippines sometime this december

-*-

he also helped me in customs and i payed.... NOTHING :P

Thanks for the replies!

I feel I can trust the guy, the only matter is that I can´t be shure if they would make me pay customs at spain. I guess it´s try and see...

The price is good for europe even + shipping, but then if customs charge this famous 25 % it´s not that good deal, so there´s the issue.

What a dilema!!!

Cheers,

I got my Dolphin off him, aboslutely first class seller, I would not hesitate to buy something high end again from him. Packed the bass like a madman, courier shipping with insurance, secure shipment, for about the same as another seller charged me to ship a case.

As for customs and duty you might have to pay, the seller has absolutely no control over those. That's all your government.

I got a bass from him too. I picked it up from him directly, so I didn't have to wait on shipping. He's honest as any seller you'll find. I know someone here got a nice old Fortress 5 string from him too.

I hate to say it but I actually got a kinda bad vibe from this guy not too long ago!

I was interested in a Dolphin he was selling and e-mailed him regarding trade possibilities.

He said he does take in trades sometimes.

I thought of trading my TRB6PII towards the Dolphin he had listed.

This is of course just recollection of what transpired off the top of my head, without looking back over e-mails at the specifics…

He said the TRB6PII is not worth much and he could only offer me about $1000 for it in trade… (((LOWBALL, LOL, OK THEN)))… He said he had sold a TRB6PII recently for not much more than that… So I looked and what he had sold was a TRB6P … NOT a TRB6PII… plus he sold the 6P for about $1500 or $1600 and it was only in fair condition! LOL
The TRB6PII is much much more valuable than a TRB6P, plus mine is in nearly perfect condition!

BTW, just a side note… mine was made for and previously owned by a Yamaha endorser / Rockstar friend of mine, and they give out extra nice instruments to the endorsers.

Anyway, I suggested a couple other trade ideas just to see how he would respond… And he didn’t! LMAO… he just didn’t reply at all!

I really felt like he thought he had a kid on the hook that didn’t know anything and he wanted to take advantage!

It sort of gave me a bad feeling, I kinda felt insulted! So I didn’t buy the Dolphin… I could have just put it on a credit card anyway but I was annoyed by this time… Too bad because it was a sweet Dolphin but that’s how it goes sometimes.

I understand the guy is trying to do business and has to make money but I don’t think he was shooting straight in his dealing with me…

Just my 2 cents… probably not even worth that LOL…

P.S - I will say though that this guy does sell a lot of nice basses and seems to have pretty fair pricing... It's too bad this went down like it did because if I would have just bought it instead of trying to trade and making things complicated, I probably would have been happy with the bass and the deal, LoL I probably would have watched his sales and bought other basses too!!! I am such a bass addict!!! ohhhhhh well

I got my Infinity SN from that guy. I dont know about customs cause I live in stupid America. But like what was said before the guy also offered me to trade. I had a 1967 Fender Coronado Bass II in mint condition (cleanest one in existence) for sale on ebay at the time. The guy wanted me to trade and give him more $$$. I said no and ended up selling the Fender for $2500 then turned around and bought the Infinity from him for $1800. I guess just be careful with this guy. He seems to care only about money or something. But thats just my opinion.

Isnt everyone on ebay out to make money?Or spend it?
This dude has sold several basses to several members, who seem to be happy with their purchaces, which is more than I can say for dealers like GC.

it's like used cars. you don't get nearly what it's worth if you trade it in.

Many thanks guys for your replies!

If I were in the US I would by from him, but since paying at customs is not always shure I will try to find something in europe just to avoid that.

Cheers
