Need help with giving classes..

Okay, I just got a great offer to teach in a local private music school.. I will probably have 2 groups of 10-15 people each and the problem is that I have only teached single students and not for too long...
Does anyone have any useful links or suggestions how to plan the teaching program? Systematic or something?
To be honest I'm a bit of freaked out for jumping into this..
 
I'm no teacher but I wish when I started out, I didn't spend so much time on scales and developed a better knowledge of chords. Please be sure to include chord progressions and cycles along with scales and modes.

Nizz, there is a group of beginners (14 students for now) and an advanced group (8 students for now).. The beginner group are kids mostly and people who are just starting out.. The advanced group is the problem, since I don't know how advanced they are :/
 
well, i guess you know what your first day is going to be then don't you :)

just finding out what their skill levels are. and for the beginners teach them to read, and then focus on technique. What are you teaching them? are they horn players, string players?
 
Yeah, I figured so :) but then the second day might be f***ed up..

All bass players (I think), just sticking to bass technique and bass-related stuff, minimal music theory...
 
Carol Kaye offers her method at CarolKaye.com. I am studying it presently. It's very thorough and chord based, not scale. You should check it out. You will definitely need a formulated approach the students can work independently as well. Oh yeah, Carol has been teaching bass since 1965.
 
Yeah, the clinic she has on Bass Player tv is amazing. She's a living piece of music history and her teaching style makes my lightbulb flicker.
