Need advice: what to upgrade to?

Hey guys, I am in need of some expert advice.

Right now I am selling some gear that I don't use anymore and I've been thinking about what to do. There is a '93 Fortress One around my area that is selling for less than 400 euros, and I can get to try it out. I can get that money from the gear that I'm selling.

However, after some talking with my dad, he brought up a very good point, the fact that I can sell my 'Vette and combine the money to buy a more high-end bass. The thing is, what basses (especially Wicks) should I keep my eyes on? The theoretical budget would be around 1000 euros. Also, keep in mind that the 'Vette is not stock anymore, as I've put in a 3-band Glock pre in it (not sure that it'd matter that much).

I do have kind of an idea of what to go for next, but I need feedback to be as sure as I can possibly be. String number doesn't really matter to me, as I am comfortable with 4 and 5 stringers as well.

Personally I'd go for a neck through model of some sort. Thumb NT or Streamer Stage 1/2 in good shape are possible at around 1000-1200 euros.
 
Check out samples and what you like the look look of, then go from there. Limiting may just end up costing more money via trades etc in the long run.
 
Hello there,

You can find a nice Streamer LX or a Thumb BO for less than 1000€, both will be an upgrade from your Corvette STD, deppending on your sound tastes, ofc.
 
General question: would a Corvette $$ be worth it, or should I steer clear of them?
 
I had a Corvette $$ and it is very versatile, though you have to like its response . Check out the Warwick demos to get a feel.
 
Try some warwicks out to get a feel. Neck attachment, pickups and body woods make the biggest difference even if it's the same model
 
Well.......good thing I have close friends with high-end Warwick basses :). All I know right now for sure is that a Thumb Bass NT is my dream instrument in terms of every category, sound, looks, and, strangely enough, even ergonomics, always loved that small body.

There is your answer, although it wont sound,play, or feel anything like your corvette. Good choice either way.

I agree too with the NT's. My SSII NT is the best thing I have ever touched. However I still love my vette std. It still sounds like a Warwick and is built like a freaking tank. They are all different, but built with the same love and precision no matter what the model.

It's ok, the thing is, my Dad was right after all, and I'd much rather go down the upgrade path.

Well guys, my search is over. I've got this beautiful Streamer James Earl Signature. It has the best low B I've ever heard and I honestly still can't believe that I have it. It's a beast of a bass!

I'll only post this one teaser picture, but I promise that I'll take more as soon as I get home at the end of the week.
