Neck with too much frets!

Hello everyone,

In the Warwick booth at Musikmesse, there was this bass, a Thumb, with a pretty ackward fretboard... :eek:

I remember Florin explaining what it was for, but I have to admit that German beer won over my ability to remember...

Anyone could refresh my memory?

I'd love to hear the answer to this one. Is this similar to the whole Dingwall fanned fret thing?

not really... Hansford can chose different notes to play in different chord context.
Above the octave, The E as a 3rd for a C major will be one note, and the E used for E major will be a different one.
 
just like florin said... we had a awesome chat with hansford on one of the days. He explained the whole concept of just intonation to us. and it really DOES sound better. sweet chords. worth the all the hazzle with the instruments and searching for band mates in just intonation... probably not.
 
I read it, and still am kind of confused. Maybe some audio/video will clear it up.

very interesting read that ..not even sure i get it hahahha..but i kind of get the idea..way to smart for my tiny brain to handle..it did however explain something indirectly.when tuning a piano its usually (i think) start at A 440 then tuned in 5ths or 3rds and all off the A..where if you were to use a tuner for all the notes one by one while the notes are in tune the piano would sound way out when playing chords! MAN who would have thought things get so deep lol.the more you look the bigger the rabbit hole..thats the good thing i guess you can never know it all and there is always something to learn!

florin is there an actual name for this bass? i am sure its a one of thing(maybe??) was just wondering if there was something it was called so it could be Identified.(brand model name or is like the True Temperament necks) It is not really important but i am just interested to know:) thanks
