neck shaving/shaping selfmade on my 94 thumb nt (good idea?)

so guys my thumb for the gigs arrived yesterday

almost everything is good for me. sadly the bridge is curved the other way around to the fretboard but i'll swap this with the bridge from the nt vette and order meanwhile a new one.

but what i have to change is the necksize! it has those baseball necks which i don't like so much for the shows since i'm used to the fast slim-necks.
now i wanted to try to shave the neck by myself. what do you guys think? could it be done by me or does it needs a pro for this?
does somebody has expirience in this and knows what you have to look of? or can i just start shaving until it fits for me?

It can be done, but not a good idea to do the job with a deadline. Trying to finish the re-shape for a gig doesn't sound like an ideal situation for a first time job.

On a side note, the thicker neck is really easy to get accustom to, at least for me. I say give it some time, don't fight it, maybe a month or two. If you still don't like the neck, then decide whether to reshape it.

I quickly grew accustom to the fat-neck profile, coming from a slim one.....but if it doesn't work for you, then it just doesn't!

I would get it done professionally, no point risking ruining a lovely Wenge neck, especially a neck-through one!

yo folks

went to basscenter today and had fixed the jack-input and asked them about shaping the neck. eventhough they don't work with warwick anymore they know the older slim necks which were build. they said it woudn't be a good idea cos you never know where the trussrod is and that the neck can get destroit if it gets to thin.
makes sense... but i'm still asking myself if 2-3mm really could make something bad happen...
well they woudn't and wont do it especially a neck-thru.

well i think i wait a moment first and tkae more informations in. i don't hate it since i have have two other basses which have the same shape but yea.... it had been very nice with a slim neck....
actually i shoudn't complain anyhow for that price i get the thumb

My Vette 5'r has the fat neck and I can play it faster than any bass I've ever owned. It shouldn't slow you down but if you hate the feel, then you should sell it and get a slimmer necked bass. Trashing a NT Warwick bass just ain't right.

I love all warwick necks(fat ones,skinny ones ha ha hmmm)...only thing i dislike is 35 inch scale basses...just doesn't work for me. Hey herbie..stick with it a whie man because that is a lovely bass mate
