Hi All,

In the Discontinued!!! thread I got sad about the Korvettes moving away from Korea, 'cause they're just so nice so I had to get one before they're all gone.

:D  :D

Picked up my 2014 Korvette STD Ash Active 4 Nirvana Black OFC this afternoon.

SWeeet! What a gorgeous bass. I can't find anything at all to pick on... seriously; I'm so fussy it's ridiculous, but this thing is beautiful!

It feels slightly different to a German Corvette, some small differences in body routing going on and the neck profile is a *touch* chunkier than the slick Snow White, but I cannot fault the build... it's put together as well as any German Corvette I've had (and I've had a few), and if you put a blindfold on there's no way you would be able to tell the sound from a German 'Vette either.

Sad that these Pro Series basses are leaving Korea, but I'm sure the WGPS basses will be gorgeous too. I think I'll have to get one of them when they come out too!

Pics to follow, but right now... first things first... I'm grabbing this baby and heading to rehearsal.

Yeah!

Actually... here's something interesting...

It sounds Warwick Corvette through and through, but I did think it sounded a bit deeper than Snow White. I figured I'd put it down to new Vs old and Red Label Vs EMP strings, but sure enough, when I measured the pickups, they are in a slightly different position.

Neck pickup is 8mm closer to the 24th fret than my German 'Vette, and the bidge pickup is 5mm closer.

There's some Friday night trivia for you.

Either way it sounds sweet!

:D

And you shall!

:D

Here's something else that's interesting.

I was just updating my bass spreadsheet (as you do), and I noticed I've had 35 basses over the years.

20 of the 35 have been Corvettes!

Awesome! I'm glad you got one. I wouldn't mind having another myself. I love mine more each time I play it. I am a very picky person and I still can't find anything at all to pick at either. I couldn't even tell you how many basses I have owned over the years. I even had a few very high end basses and I like my Bubinga Korvette more than anything else I have ever owned.

Shifts of 5mm and 8mm in PU locations are considered
earthshaking, knocks the planet into a whole new orbit
according to the Geeks of the Fender Jazz Bazz ... and
who but whoever could passibly know more important
Bass Details than members of the GFJB !

Pics or we will all presume you bought a Dolphin!
:-)

One day I shall have a Dolphin!

It and an Infinity are both on my wish list.

:)

I was pretty surprised by the pickup position change... Is fairly significant. I don't know if Warwick did it on purpose or if it's just a result of different machine setups. I think probably the latter.

Seumul sounded great at rehearsal last night... Sounding even better with some DR Sunbeams now. I'm on the way out to play it in Church now... Will grab some snaps later in the day.

:D

With the neck laminations and all, I don't think I've seen a German corvette to look that nice before. You do great pics however :-)

Thanks Flo ;) My second passion next to playing basses is photographing them.

:D

Congrats on the new Korvette, señor Luke. And great pics as always. 8:

Great picz and aesum bass Luke ... I really dig da Nirvana black ... 8:

Thanks guys... I wasn't keen on Nirvana black at first Rob... I was going to go for Burgundy OFC, but there are only Nirvana black ones left here now, so that's what I grabbed.

Now that I have it I'm thrilled... the finish on it is really nice; the sandblasted effect on the swamp ash grain is really sweet with the black finish!

;)
