Name My Instruments!

So I suppose that when my parlor guitar returns from its repair time at the shop, I'll have to name it. It's been passed down from the Swedish end of my family, so I think it could use a really Scandinavian name. I'm at a loss of what it could be called, so I'd like suggestions.

And when I eventually get an ash-bodied Corvette (I'm considering that a priority), I'll need a name for that too, as it'll be a very special instrument. I'm thinking Ygg would be good, in keeping with that sort of theme. Short for the Norse tree representing the universe, which was said to be an ash tree. But again, suggestions would be nice.

I probably won't ever call them by these names, as it'd probably be lost on anyone who heard them. I just thought it'd be cute.

Lastly, anyone here have names for their basses?
 
Maybe you can check out the IKEA catalogue for some inspiration.......... :lol: Me, I do not give my basses names............ :roll:
 
i tried naming my basses, but it was too much trouble (nobody knew what i was talking about), so i ended up calling them by the names that appear on their headstock.

ill only name my basses if i get famous enough for ppl to put my basses in high regard... either that, or when i get a custom wick... it has to have a custom name too *lol*
 
I have named mine but something happens with my memory that I keep getting mixed up with the names from time to time and people do not know what i am referring to either so I also go most of the time by the model name and color or finish.
 
I've owned 6 basses in my life - still have 3 of them, i get very attached to them so i guess it's normal for me to name them.

First bass - a telecaster shaped Jolana was called "Fleament" after my two fav bassplayers at the time - 97 - Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam and Flea.

Second bass was a romanian bass - i ended up defretting it - i call her 'Lea DeFret" - still have her.

Third bass was a 5 stringer Washburn b-105 - i called him "Guillelmus Monachus the 5th" - sold it to buy my rockbass.

Fourth was the rockbass streamer standard 5 - i called her "Carolena Chang Von Meidl" - sold it along with my sweet 15 to buy my Thumb

Fifth bass was a semiacoustic Jolana from the 70s - i call him "Bodacious the 2nd" - still have the dude :)

and finally, my dream bass, the Thumb is called "Meshell Wilkenfeld Smith" :)

i also have a squier telecaster 51 guitar - i call it "the Tele" :D
 
I name all my basses and guitars Fred, just to keep it simple.

I like that approach.... makes sense... keeps it simple and you know the names all the time.

Florin, or I think Lucia (his wife) named the Streamer LX witch I have now for more than 1 year: VIRGIL :)

I had a '92 Musicman Stingray 5, very special one. UNDER the finish (the original one), stamped on the wood was an image of HOMER SIMPSON (showing his ASS). So, naturlich, the bass was named HOMER.

He rivals Billy Sheehan in that department & his columns in Bass player magazine are pretty cool too.
 
never really thought about naming my bass'es ill have to get back to you when i think of some. :?
