My Warwick experience - Part Two

Hi everyone


Consequently to a 3-years GAS attack, I've had 46 electric basses. Hopefully, I think I'm done today, keeping only a Thumb NT5, a Musicman Bongo 5HH and my old Fender JP90.
14 of my ex-groovers were Warwick basses and I feel I have the duty to share this expérience here with those of you wondering how they sound comparatively.
So here is a quick overall review of each Warwick I've had the chance to possess, grouped by model.


I am no pro-player and my skills have many limitations, so please, do focus on the tone of the instruments rather than the quality of my silly improvisations and covers :-)
For each soundclip, I shall indicate the pickup selection (neck, 50%neck, center, 50%bridge, bridge), the preamp setting (Bypass or Low(L), Mid(M), Treble(T), on a scale from -5 to +5), and the effects used if necessary.
Most of the time, the strings are stainless steel roundwounds, in medium gauge ([130-]105-85-65-45), except for the Dolphin Pro1, the modern Thumb Bolt-On and the Fortress Masterman (nickel rounds, same gauge).
I play finger-style or slap on most of the parts.


Hope this makes sense and is helpfull in some way to those of you hesitating between 2 or more Wicks.

really excellent post..wish i had thought of the same idea..:(( have had a few wicks over the years myself and stuck with the nt5thumb..would loved to have had an ss2 but my playing days just might be at an end..
great playing by the way very smooth.;)
 
Sweet tones and damn that black Fortress is looking sexy! Just got my black RB corvette, gotta replace to black hardware at some point ^^
 
Wow, now you made some people happy by posting the sounds of these basses.
It may help them by choosing one of these instruments in the future ;)

I currently don't have any Warwick bass left (playing now a Spector NS5 and a Peavey Cirrus, both being incredible basses), but someday, I might come back with some other Wicks that I'll surely let you hear.
 
I prefer the LX5 over the Thumb sound. Am I the only one?
