my vampyre and me... i htink there's like wayy too little pics of the vampyre over here... but thats just me...

anyway its cool to see that there's a whole load of people who love warwicks!

Man I love the Vampyre,& the way it came about is so cool.I came very close to getting one but got a Thumb instead.Marcbass has the best looking Vampyre in history,imo of course. :wink:
Anyone that buys a Vampyre NT used is insane if they dont buy his,that is if it's still for sale.
 
Marcbasses' Vampyre is cool but I don't think anyone can beat JonVanHove's Vampyres, even if they are fictional.

Kester, lovely bass and it's great that more poeple from Eastasia are joining the forum, we don't have all too many people from there here eventhough Warwicks are shipped all over the world. Welcome to the Forum, btw!
 
haha thx guys... the forum here is quite awesome... i've never met so many people who like Warwick before...

there's quite a few people in Singapore who use Warwick actually... i've seen a warwick thumb and a rockbass thumb at a church concert... played by two different people...

What is 'the way it came about '? Is there an interesting story there ? I've just bought a 2nd hand Vampyre SN, and I'm curious.
 
If you guys like Vampyres you should check out Seth's.It's a complete madman of a bass with 2 twin J's,a 4 band eq & piezos in the bridge & the lower horn.Quite simply an amazing CS bass. 8)

It was a design contest if I remember correctly. A private person draw the winning design. I bet he's rich now... :)
 
Yeah I remember the guy was german,I forget his name now but the Vampyre was his entry in a,"desigh your own bass" competition.He did exceptionally well I reckon.

Yes, he did well.

I think that if there wasn't a Vampyre, I wouldn't have bought a Warwick.

I wanted a bass that would look and feel more in sync with what/how I play than the basses I'd previously had. Warwick appealled because of their reputation, and I saw one in a shop that looked really beautifully made. But looking at the range, the only shapes that I fancied were the Katana and Vampyre. Katana was pretty much ruled out as it's NT & BO only. Then I found a 2nd hand Vampyre SN in a shop.

I think the only thing I'm not so keen on is that its balance is slightly neck-heavy.

I like to have the neck angled well up, as it's easier on my left wrist, and I don't want to have to cajole the instrument into staying there.

I think I have a technical workaround...
 
A thick neoprene strap can help out if you feel there's a little neck dive in your bass.They help alot with weight too.

Yes, a thick, 'grippy' strap helps - though I've gone for leather.

I've also (*very* carefully) moved the front strap fixing forward, and I have about 500g of coins in a neat lilttle pouch sitting on the starp at the tail. Extra weight is unwelcome, but the combination has really helped the balance.
 
I'm sure Greg (Thumperton) has done a post in the past where he advocates feeding the strap through your pants to counter balance the weight of the neck... care must be taken to avoid giving yourself a wedgie if you move too fast! :shock: Am I right?

kester ~ where did you buy your Vampyre SN ? and how much of it ?

I'm going to S'pore for a trip soon.
 
ahaha i bought my vampyre from "swee lee" which has a showroom at bras basah, but they only have stock at their warehouse, which is at sims drive....
it goes for 3.4k sing, but i got it for 1.8k+ cos i bought it at a sale! yup...
