Hello you all:d
2 or 3 years ago i order and purchased a real Custom Thumb 6 B.O. "Bleach Blond" and broad neck,
that bass sound so great and the look is awesome, indeed very,very light Thumb as the wood is maple
and ash or alder,
so it was before Warwick built slim neck,and my pain is that neck have a very thick profile almost like
a half tree trunk!:(( But i like the wide fingerboard!
so before to do a bad thing, is there someone for getting to me advices? i thought bring it to a luthier
for plane a little behind the neck, what do you think about it? Thanks!;)

That would be my advice. Find a reputable luthier (that's not a job I would just take to a music store tech) in your area and talk to them to gauge how comfortable they are with that job, and if they can do it to your liking. That's a pretty sweet bass that I'd hate to have the wrong guy screw the neck up.
 
Is there much difference in a 6 string broad neck? I can't see how that could be much less than half a tree trunk even if it is a slim profile.
 
Doog, I think his broadneck was from when WW was still making the thicker neck profiles, at which point I could see that neck as being HUGE.

That aside, there isn't much difference between my $$ 6 string neck and my LX broadneck 6 string neck. The regular is a little more rounded, whereas the BN has a definite flat area. But, nothing really major.
 
It's very possible to have the neck shaved down a bit.
I've spoken to a couple of guys ion talkbass who've had this done to their U profile necked Warwicks,with good results.One guy got an assymetrical profile.
As long as the luthier doesnt get too ambitious & tries to take off too much wood,It should be ok.
 
I might be wrong, but the broad necks were always pretty slim.

That's exactly what i thought to do,and better with an assymetrical profile,
as my left tumb is allways on the edge of the treble side of the neck,it will
allow to take off really less of neck wood,

I'm sorry Florin, but on a 6 strings Bolt-On and broad neck, the profile neck is
really enormous! Not on a 5 strings B.O. broad neck witch keeps a comfi playing on his neck:)
Even on a Stage I the neck profile is thinner or flatter.

They feel that way to me too.
Wide,but very thin,or slim.Not much meat.More fingerboard,than actual (back of the)neck wood.
 
Hm, as I don't have much experience on 6 strings broad neck, WW Slapper might be right. I was indeed talking about 5 stringes :-)

Hey!

Why warwick necks "feel" so thick is that because of the shape of the neck, not the thickness itself!

The thing is warwick neck are super squary U shape like this

So, how you could improve on this would be asking a great luthier to sand down the "sides" of the neck to look more like the new neck profile

The broadnecks have always had a slimmer profile than the regular necks.

i can't believe it! it's about 6 strings Broad-Neck, not a neck-thrue or others 5 or 6 strings standart.

What they mean, & I agree with them,is that the neck,while being wide,is not very thick.The wider the fingerboard is,the slimmer it tends to feel.The WW broadneck 6er feels quite thin,to me.If you look at your neck,from side on,it's got quite a slim profile.

wide = side to side.
thick = back to front.
