Found a quick practice clip from a few years back, just messing with the old FNA Jazzman. The ending was all spliffed up but like I said, it was a while back;)

Very nice, Gerry...what genre of music currently interests you the most? I don't mean the one that "pays" the most...although, they might be the same :-)
 
Thanks guys. Although, I probably shouldn't post old vids while on oxycodone and morphine after a root canal, lol! Seemed like a good idea at the time?
Anyway, I listen to lots of different music but really like the Latin vibe. Tumbao, merenge', salsa, bachata ect. I spent a lot of time with "The Latin Bass Book", by Oscar Stagnaro and find that anything I make on my own eventually has a Latin feel to it. Other than that, I've been studying "Bach for electric bass" for the last 6 months and can only play 1 piece so far. Amazing how much modern music comes from that stuff! Walking basslines and old school funk/house music are right up there and get regular practice. I wake up to alternative rock and work out to old school rap music.
What floats your boat these days Kev? ....anyone? feel free to throw up a practice video here, so I don't feel so bad, lol!

I just started working on a Tal Wilkenfeld cut "Truth Be Told" from her '07 "Transformation" bass album...with my Dolphin fretless. IF I ever get it reasonably down...I'll for sure put it up here :-) I listen to/practice modern Jazz mostly...Brian Culbertson, Rippingtons, Chris Botti, etc. I often work on my timing/technique with contemporary christian music...also practice with the DK Marlow vids, and have learned much from him.

I also enjoy listening to Andy Saxton's (bought) and Mr. Demeter's (will buy) music...awesome creative talent there! Unfortunately, I've been far too busy teaching my 120 4/5th graders math lately, and can't play everyday...summer is close though :-)

About all the Latin vibe....I need to look into that!

Wow, being a math teacher must really help you navigate the fretboard. At least that's what I've heard about musicians that are good at math. Do you find this to be true for yourself?
We have some really talented forum mates for sure and they help keep me motivated. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone a lot more these days.
The Latin music comes in handy for spicing up gigs too. With the right drummer/percussionist, no one can stay in their seat. The only jazz I've really studied is Latin Jazz. Oscar Stagnaro, Chic Corea, ect. I do like the jazz styles that are close to blues though. I'll look into the artists you mentioned and see what they're about.
Meanwhile, if you get a chance, this is a few dollars well spent!

Interesting stuff Kevin! I'll keep my opinion on 2 bass tapping to myself though;) Tal is great. I've been a fan for a while now and really admire her ability to handle the "odd" time signatures. I'm going to learn that Brian Culbertson piece soon. I can see it coming in handy on certain gigs.
I think I have a gig coming up. So, for now it's back to practicing the song list.

By the way Kevin, I'm not sure at what level your playing is, but keep in mind that Bach didn't imply tempo. I'm learning each piece in sections very slowly. This is the first kind of music that forces me to address my main weakness, which is not opening my left hand enough. Also, I'm starting to understand the way Bach strings arpeggios together and I'm applying some of it to expand on music I play and jam on.
Let me know how you make out with it.
