Bubinga finish...

So they're just painting the alder so it looks like it's bubinga? :?

That's different.

I think the top is a very thin piece of bubinga...

I'd check too - some of Rondo's basses only have a film finish rather than an actual veneer top. I had one long ago - the pictures on the web looked great, but in person the finish was horrible.

It may be a thin Bubinga veneer, but I would have thought they'd say something other than "finish" if it was.

Worth asking.

;)

i'm not terribly worried if its not, its only 300 bucks, what i can i expect? they have a fretted version with zebrano!

post some pics and reveiws when you get it. I might get one myself since I have mno fretless basses nor 6 stringers and something like this would be great but this is Alder right? so it is a veneer that looks like bubinga then?

where did you get it?

You're right - it sure does look like pretty good value.

;)

I've looked at those on eBay before. The bubinga in like a 1-2mm laminate but still looks pretty. Nice way to try fretless without splashing out on a Warwick and finding out you don't like it. :D

Rondo music out here went out of business and I bought 2 of those Brice basses for $99 each. Gave both away a year later.

Yeah, they were there for years and then came a Guitar Center and Sam Ash next to each other.
