My new can of wax has arrived! [pics added]

Hey everyone - my tin of Warwick wax was running really low, so I figured I'd better order another one.

It was kind of expensive for a tin of wax, but the great thing is that the nice guys at Warwick have included free - a lovely Bubinga Fretless Corvette, and a gig bag, and a user kit along with it! :D

I'll hopefully be able to get out to pick it all up this afternoon.

I've spent tonight waxing, oiling and setting it up. It's pretty nice. Dropped some Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats on it, and it sounds great!

I've got to measure them both to be sure, but I'll swear the neck profile is alot slimmer than my '06 fretted Corvette. Very interesting! After getting used to the chunky '06 'Vette I'm not sure which one I prefer now. :lol: I might be dreaming, but I'll measure tomorrow.

The Bubinga body is nice - lovely grain, but slightly contrasting pieces, so visible join lines. Not as nice as my Afzelia CS 'Vette, but nice nonetheless. I'll learn to love it :lol:

I must say that despite the fact that it's not as pretty as my CS Afzelia 'Vette, I do prefer it tonally. Same strings, same electronics - just different body wood. It might sound kinda weird, but it just seems to sound more like a Corvette in Bubinga. I love that tone, and with the passive MECs and TI Jazz flats it's warm and woody - just like I like a fretless.

I'll take some pics tomorrow!

Sounds awesome mate, can't wait to have a look at her. Really wish I did have some time this weekend, with 6 Warwicks and a Rockbass between us, we could sure have some fun (NHS!)

I've got '07 Vettes, bought only weeks apart at the same store,
and the FL does feel like a slimmer profile than the fretted. I've
never measured, but I've always presumed that the effective
profile on the FL is slimmer by exactly the height of the absent
frets. In a perfect world, FL basses would have thicker FBs than
their fretted step-brothers, so as to maintain a matched feel of
equal effective profiles between the beauty and the beast. But
IIRC, this is not a perfect world ....

Nice bass :) - Gotta love the fretless...

It looks like they changed the design of the trussrod tool...
 
Yeah - I haven't used it yet - the truss rod is fine, but it looks like the new truss rod tool will work just fine.
