My Fortress Clean Up

I got this Fortress back in July, it really needed a cleaning and finally last weekend I got time to work on it while my girlfriends parents went to Mexico so I used their house as my little maintenance shop. I didn't want the cleaners around my dogs, stupid things lick everything hahaha.

The bass had the original JAN but I sent it to ilikebass7 as I put on a JAN3. New strings, completely cleaned the inside of the body. Took the pick ups out put in new EMGs. It was a long 3 1/2 hours to clean this but it sounds great, feels like new. Good deal for $500 plus new parts and a few good hours spent.

It looks like the headstock was broken and repaired, ain't it? (although, the front doesn't look like it)...

How did you clean up the frets and the fretboard?

I used a brass cleaner called Wenol. You can see a picture of it in the series of photographs. Works great! I had to do at least 2-3 runs on certain frets as they where really bad. I actually let the Wenol stay on before cleaning it for a minute or 2. The actual fretboard I just used this local BC bees wax that a Woodworker friend of mine uses. I actually thought I had to change all the frets because they where so bad but Wenol was amazing.

I clean my frets with a metal polish called Solvol Autosol.It is available as a liquid or a paste in a tube.The paste is better for frets and works great,just remember to tape up your fretboard.
