I have been playing Fenders Jazz basses since I started playing, but after a gig last week I felt like I wanted to try something new. A friend of mine has been playing a Warwick since the late 80's and swears by it and has always suggested that I try one out. Well, long story short, I brought one of my Jazz basses along with me to GC for trade in case I found something I liked. The salesman jumped me as soon as I got through the door and ended up putting an active Corvette Standard in my hands. I played it for a few minutes and handed it back. I'm not into active electronics and the bass just didn't turn me on. I walked a bit further down the isle and I see this beautiful burgundy red Corvette Standard (passive) and pull it down. I plugged it into a GK rig similar to mine and fell in love. The GROWL! Needless to say, I traded the Jazz and have a new bass. I will have a chance to try it out with the band this week and can't wait.

Sorry for the ramble...I am just pretty excited about my new bass :-)

i sold a USA 62 reissue Jazz Bass & bought a Streamer lx4 and never looked back,in fact my Corvette $$ should turn up this week :D
i think with Fender you pay for the name,where as with Warwick you get what you pay for.

Artisan, you've got that right!

Different things work for different people. There's still a lot of guys on our local blues/R&B circuit that won't play anything but a Fender. If thats' what they want to do, that's o.k. with me, I know what I like.

I've got a '57 reissue P-Bass that stays home in the closet.
My other three basses are Warwicks, and I play them all of the time.
The Fenders were good basses in their day, considering they're 1950's technology.

In my opinion, their day has passed.
 
Welcome on board! you've been without warwick for too long! its true that once you go warwick you never go else where! glad you're digging your corvette!
 
I just px'd my one of my MIM jazz's for an active 'vette. Is there much difference in the sound of an active in 'passive' mode to a passive corvette? Found I like the passive much of the time - bit like the Jazz but with more growl. Might use the active on stage occasionally to scare the guitar**t!
 
Congrats!!

I'm also a Fender convert... I sold my Japanese-made Fender Jazz Special to my brother to buy a Corvette FNA Jazzman, and never regretted the switch.
